According to him, he was informed that the businessman came to Parliament to meet some members of the majority caucus on the matter to intervene for Ofori-Atta but was sent packing. He, however, added that he could not confirm whether the businessman offered the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) bribes. "I [am] not privy to whatever inducement that people are offering… I [was] told on authority that some businessman came here and tried to do something. "I was told that he came here and tried to mediate in his own way. We have sound enough warning to people who want to influence members of our coalition with materialism; it won't happen," he said.

Oppong Nkrumah, who made these remarks in an Asempa interview monitored by GhanaWeb, said that the media in other countries are seriously discussing the implication of the potential war, but the media in Ghana are silent about it. He indicated that the president admitted that the country is facing an economic crisis, and calls for him to apologise for it are immaterial.

“You can actually vote for a party which can punish you. He added the need for Christians to pray that citizens make the right choices when they go to the polls by making decisions devoid of their political affiliations. Sometimes we pray; we say let’s pray for the nation that God will bless the nation. Some critics have sought to blame the current government for Ghana’s current economic challenges. However, the government has largely blamed the current rise in inflation and economic challenge on the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest action by the NPP MPs came on the back of several calls for the President to sack Ofori-Atta. This same Ken Ofori-Atta was able to manage the economy for the first three to four years. That is why I have great difficulty in understanding what is going on,” the President told Kumasi-based OTEC FM in an interview. Ken Ofori-Atta is among the relatives of Akufo-Addo who are holding government positions and the president is reported to be loyal to his family members hence the unwillingness to sack Ken Ofori-Atta. But now, he pointed out, “they came to correct the communication outside to say that he [Ken Ofori-Atta] performed in the first three years and that’s why he’s [President Akufo-Addo] not sacking him”.
