Israel bombs Gaza as mediators discuss truce-hostage plan
Israel's military pounded central Gaza with heavy air strikes on Wednesday as international talks to secure a truce and hostage release deal resumed. The bloodiest ever Gaza war, sparked by Hamas's October 7 attack on southern Israel, raged on with jets bombing targets overnight and Palestinian officials reporting yet more deaths. Bombardment of central Gaza killed 11 people near the Al-Maghazi camp and two near Deir al-Balah, said witnesses and Palestinian officials. Peru to get UPI: NIPL ties up with Peru’s Central Bank
NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) announced a partnership to deploy a UPI-like payments system in Peru, the payments corporation said in a press statement. NIPL ties up with Central Bank of Peru for UPI-like payment system in Peru(ANI)This makes Peru, the first country in South America to adopt the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) technology. Also Read | HDFC Bank to stop SMS alerts for these UPI payments. The development follows UPI entering other markets such as France, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Mauritius, according to a Business Standard report. In February, it announced a partnership with e-commerce and proximity payments company Lyra to enable UPI acceptance in France, and this month, UPI services were rolled out in Sri Lanka and Mauritius, the report read.

Air India teams up with Boeing, restructures ground ops to cut flight delays
Air India is working with Boeing and strengthening its ground operations to improve the reliability of its long-haul flights and better customer service, a senior airline official told businessline. Also read: IATA opposes GST levy on foreign airlines in IndiaAir India is the largest long-haul operator from India, but continues to receive flak because of long delays and poorly-maintained aircraft. “We are working with Boeing on a reliability improvement programme,” the senior official said. Under this programme, Boeing conducts a diagnosis of factors contributing to unreliability and delays, thus helping the airline improve its performance. The airline's senior management is also reviewing whether standard operating procedures with regard to customer facilitation are being followed in case of flight delays.

In Tamil Nadu, where the BJP was projected to pick up some seats, the party could win none. In Andhra Pradesh, the BJP led in 3 seats, up from zero last time. While the BJD was leading on just one Lok Sabha seat, the BRS and the BSP drew a blank.
