Photo: Ger RogersFox goes the extra mile for Ferbane and hopes to make it countBy Kevin EganIt’s a Tuesday night in October, and Leon Fox has made the trip from Drogheda to Ferbane, because his club senior team has just been training for this Sunday’s county final against Tullamore (4pm). Throughout the summer, he’s been up and down for either Ferbane or Belmont, following on from a winter and spring when he did the same for the Offaly hurlers. Fox admitted that Ferbane “stumbled through the group stages”, adding that in addition to the narrow defeat to Shamrocks, both Durrow and Edenderry should have beaten his side. And if they don't, Leon Fox will be back on the road next year anyway.

A radical feminist opera which includes explicit lesbian sex scenes, real blood and injuries, and naked roller-skating nuns, has left 18 audience members needing medical treatment in Germany. Its provocative scenes left theatregoers reeling, with 18 suffering with nausea and shock and requiring assistance over the first two performances. Extreme performance artist Florentina Holzinger is behind the astonishing adaptation, which sees its all-female cast playing nuns who strip off their habits throughout the 'sensual, poetic and wild' show. The opera company recommends the performance to viewers who are 'daringly looking for new theatrical experiences.' 'This is an opera about the breaking forth of the repressed female libido, so we decided to have a lot of fun.'

The consumer group said it has found a number of risks posed by existing phone numbers that get recycled and taken on by other consumers. It said the issue is that many new numbers given out by telecoms firms in the UK are recycled from previous owners because there is a fixed pool of 11-digit combinations, with customer demand fuelling this recycling process. said it also had reports of people being bombarded with calls and messages from debt collectors or people contacting users trying to buy drugs from them. tech editor, said: “Our research shows that recycled phone numbers can cause significant problems for both the previous owner of the number and the new recipient – from the risk of being hacked to losing an emergency phone line or receiving worrying unsolicited messages. “Ofcom should aim to improve the way providers communicate that a number is at risk of deactivation and look into the issues that recycled numbers are causing consumers.”

These can prevent users from getting an accurate picture of their health and can nudge people towards continuing to drink, academics suggested. The study identified contradictory messaging that could increase alcohol consumption on six industry-backed tools, while alcohol was framed as normal and social on seven industry tools and one non-industry tool. Industry-backed platforms included information on the likes of mental health problems caused by alcohol, or social consequences such as missed work days. However, non-industry backed tools included these harms and more, such as the risk of physical or psychological harm like brain damage or addiction. Elsewhere, some tools, such as the Drinkaware unit calculator, misled users by suggesting only drinking above “binge levels” was harmful, researchers said.
