Ms Harris is the daughter of Donald J Harris, who was born in Jamaica, and Shyamala Gopalan Harris from India. Brown emigrated to Jamaica, then a British colony, and became an enthusiastic slave owner on the sugar plantations that were the mainstay of the island’s economy. The grave of Hamilton Brown in Jamaica shows that he was born in Antrim in 1776 and died in Jamaica. One article on the internet suggests that Kamala Harris’s great-great-great grandmother Mary Melvina may have married a different Hamilton Brown who was not related to the first one. The memorial to Hamilton Brown reads: ‘Sacred to the memory of HAMILTON BROWN Esq.

The opening ceremony, for the first time in Olympic Summer Games history, will be held in the host nation’s city rather than inside a stadium. The U.S. women’s team has won gold at the past seven summer Olympic Games, dating back to Atlanta 1996. Scheffler’s 2024 season has been outstanding, and that’s a severe understatement. Imagine if he had won the PGA Championship where he finished tied for eighth, the U.S. Open where he finished tied for 41st or just recently The Open Championship where he finished tied for seventh? He finished tied for fourth at the Genesis Scottish Open but failed to make the cut at The Open Championship.

It is the first time that a trial of the Goa Inquisition has been made available in English. The edition in English had to be rendered comprehensible, which meant introducing punctuations which were otherwise absent in the original Portuguese edition. It was quite an arduous undertaking, but it is the first time that a trial of the Goa Inquisition has been made available in English. Catharina was accused by the Goa Inquisition in 1569 of allegedly practicing Jewish rites, for which she was burnt at the stake, a punishment carried out on rare occasions in Goa. Thus, the exceptional nature of the case and the archival document makes this book, a very important contribution to the subject of the Goa Inquisition.

She added her support for Ms Harris was “official, personal and political”. Mr Biden endorsed Ms Harris shortly after announcing his decision to withdraw from the election on Sunday. But he called on Democrats to hold a “mini primary” to find “the strongest candidate” rather than immediately rallying behind Ms Harris. Ms Harris said she was “honoured” to have his endorsement and she intended to “earn and win this nomination”. Washington is rife with speculation over who Ms Harris might select as her running mate if she secures the nomination.

Patricia Fort of Glasgow writes: "Geoff Ellis makes some very good points, so let's consider all the things that have been talked about for public transport, particularly in the Glasgow area. "We've had the bus link to the new Southern General, ie the QEUH, built but it's a shadow of what we were led to expect. "There's the relatively new Riverside Museum, replacing the old Transport Museums, first at the old tram depot, next to Pollokshaws East railway station and then at Kelvinhall, on a bus route. Likewise, what's happened to the rail link from Glasgow Central to Glasgow Airport? "Recently there has been a big push to get our bus services back into public management, but it's all gone very quiet.
