High Court reportersA secondary school teacher who forged the signatures of two other teachers on a form to prove he had completed required teaching practice has been suspended from the register for one month by order of the High Court. The inquiry heard the two other teachers had confirmed to the Teaching Council they had not signed the form or given approval for their signature to be used. At the time of submitting the form, the teacher had not completed a requirement under the Droichead process in relation to classroom observations of experienced teachers’ practice. The inquiry heard the teacher originally claimed the use of the signatures of the other teachers had arisen out of a "miscommunication", but quickly accepted he had acted wrongly. The committee was also informed that the teacher had apologised to the Teaching Council in November 2022 and claimed he had genuinely misunderstood some requirements of the Droichead process.

After achieving sustained clinical remission, treatment was stopped and participants were followed in routine clinical practice to evaluate the possibility of maintaining drug-free remission. In univariate analysis, only sex and baseline BASDAI score were significantly different between those who did and did not achieve sustained clinical remission. Of those who achieved sustained clinical remission and were taken off treatment, 84.8 per cent experienced a disease relapse within one year. However, inducing drug-free remission in axSpA remains challenging. Treat-to-target approach allows to induce sustained clinical remission in over 60 per cent of patients with early axial spondyloarthritis.

Bishop Eamon Casey was a 'sexual predator', according to new RTÉ documentaryMichael BoltonThe former CEO of The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland, Ian Elliott, has described Bishop Eamonn Casey as "a sexual predator". His niece, Patricia Donovan, claims he first raped her at the age of five and that the sexual abuse continued for years. Mr Elliot found her account of what she experienced “entirely credible”, describing Bishop Casey as, on balance of probabilities, “an offender, a sexual predator." By this stage, the Vatican had now received at least two allegations of child sexual abuse against Bishop Casey. Bishop Casey consistently denied all the allegations of child sexual abuse made against him.

Ever arrived back from holiday with the feeling that you need another holiday to get over the first one? Leave some days to be spontaneous, agrees Dr Rowe. 3) Be mindful of diminishing returnsThe positive effects of a break on health and wellbeing are short-lived, says Lodola. “Your brain seeks novelty,” says Dr Rowe, “so new experiences boost dopamine – the brain’s pleasure and reward system. It's important to recognise when a holiday is a holiday and not just a trip9) Or at least put the phone down occasionally .

The National Lottery Heritage Fund said the initiative will empower different landowners, such as public and private organisations, estates, farmers and communities, to collaborate on making a lasting impact. Julian Glover, Heritage Fund trustee, said: “We have some of the most beautiful, loved and famous landscapes in the world but they can do a lot more for nature and more for people. “The National Lottery Heritage Fund has set a model with this excellent initiative, which government and the private sector should follow in the race to halt the decline of nature.”Landscapes Connection is the latest National Lottery Heritage Fund initiative, and was shaped in consultation with stakeholder groups right across the UK, the organisation said.

However, there’s a new kid on the block: The ‘Atlantic diet.’ Before you despair, let me explain what this comprises. ResearchThe University Hospital of Santiago de Compostela conducted a study in 2014-15 and found that what they dubbed the Atlantic diet reduced metabolic syndrome by one-third over six months. A butcher in Fisterra, northern Spain, told The Guardian: “It’s a way of living and a way of doing things: The Atlantic diet is a diet that relies on good quality ingredients,” he says. If I lived closer to a good fish shop, I think I’d eat somethinglike the Atlantic dietPersonal preferencesIf I lived closer to a good fish shop, I think I’d eat something like the Atlantic diet. If not particularly healthy, the contents of our store cupboard are not particularly unhealthy: Mustard; soya sauce; Worcestershire sauce; Heinz ketchup; cider vinegar; wine vinegar; sherry vinegar (we like vinegar); pomegranate molasses; nam pla fish sauce; Sriracha; and peanut rayu.

Irish Medical emigration is not a new phenomenon. The majority of these doctors ended up working in England, or with the British military in some far-flung destination. Many Irish doctors at the time were not particularly well-off, although there were exceptions. In the 100 years from 1860-1960, our little island produced more medical graduates than the system could absorb, which was another reason for emigration. The issue of Irish medical emigration is a complex one, and all that these column inches allow is a skim across its surface, rather than a deep dive.

AI roles are leading a recovery in employment in the Irish tech sector, after the so-called ‘tech wreck’ wave of job losses that struck the industry in 2022 and 2023. The tracker is based on research which analyses data from LinkedIn’s professional network, assessing the skills of existing professionals and skills required by organisations across the country. The latest research found a 142pc increase in demand for AI professionals followed by data analytics (36pc) and cloud computing (21pc). It contrasts with numbers from the IDA earlier this month that showed tech hiring still fairly strained. In the first six months of this year, IDA Ireland said it supported 131 investments, most outside Dublin, that will enable future delivery of 8,900 jobs.

This according to the forum will end the injustice that has continued for 36 years to Romi Konkani. There is also a demand to ensure equal financial support for the Roman script and that Konkani in Roman script be taught in schools from class I to XII. Be that as it may, it is pertinent to note that Konkani in the Roman script is also used in tiatr. Even though Romi Konkani is widely used by tens of thousands of Goans, it is not recognized by law. The usage of Romi Konkani was seen as representative of the Goan Catholic identity.
