The Duke of Sussex and Sir Elton John are to be given secret documents from the Leveson Inquiry to support their phone hacking claim against the Daily Mail following a decision by the Government. The documents outline payments made to private investigators by both the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday. Prince Harry and Sir Elton John are among a group of celebrities to have filed a lawsuit alleging widespread unlawful behaviour at Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Mail titles. The notice varies a restriction order imposed by Sir Brian Leveson in 2012, meaning the documents can now be used. It comes a month after the Duke of Sussex dropped a separate libel claim against the Daily Mail.

Don't question my commitment to United, says RashfordReutersManchester United forward Marcus Rashford has responded to critics questioning his commitment to the Premier League club after being dropped for disciplinary issues this season by manager Erik ten Hag. Rashford, who scored a career-high 30 goals last season but has netted only five times for United this campaign, believes he has been treated unfairly by the media. But if you ever question my commitment to Man United, that’s when I have to speak up," the forward wrote for The Players Tribune. United are having a disappointing season, sitting sixth in the Premier League, eight points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. We want to be back playing in the Champions League," Rashford said.

It had also allocated 125 million euro (£107 million) of humanitarian aid for Palestinians this year and contracted the first 16 million euro (£14 million) of this package on Friday. The commission had originally been due to give 82 million euro to UNRWA on Thursday but wanted the agency to accept its terms for an audit. Ireland, which provided 20 million euro (£17 million) in core funding to UNRWA last month, had repeatedly called for other states to continue financially supporting the agency. Irish premier Leo Varadkar said increasing funding to Gaza was “the right thing to do”. “The international community needs to step up now to support UNRWA, so it can fulfil its vital and life-saving mandate.”

Video: ReutersVladimir Putin has said that western support for Ukraine risks triggering a global war, in his most explicit threat to use nuclear weapons since he ordered the full-scale invasion of Ukraine two years ago. But he said any increase in western support for Ukraine “really risks a conflict using nuclear weapons, which means the destruction of all of civilisation”. “They need some dependent, declining, dying space where they can do whatever they want,” Mr Putin said of the West. “We are dealing with a state whose ruling circles are taking openly hostile actions against us,” said Mr Putin. “They do not want and are afraid of nuclear war,” he said, adding that “nuclear blackmail” had become pro forma for Mr Putin.

Irish manufacturing rebounds in February, PMI showsMuireann DuffyIrish manufacturing expanded in February for only the third month in the past year and at the fastest pace since mid-2022 following a jump in output and a rebound in new orders, a survey showed on Friday. The AIB S&P Global manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for Ireland rose to 52.2 last month from 49.5 in January, having sat marginally below the 50 mark that separates expansion from contraction for most of the last 16 months. The marked improvement in February was driven by a sharp increase in the sub-index measuring output to 54.5 from 50.9 in January, with employment also growing alongside new orders. However, respondents also faced longer delivery times and higher input prices due to the continued disruption to shipping routes in the Red Sea. Data on Thursday showed that Ireland's annual inflation rate fell to a two-and-a-half year low of 2.2 per cent last month.

Ms Martin has since faced strong criticism over her handling of the matter, appearing before the Oireachtas Media Committee on Tuesday to face questions from TDs and Senators.

First-time actor Philip 'pinching himself' ahead of Dublin premiereA chance encounter at a South Roscommon Singers Circle session in Knockcroghery has opened up a whole new world for a local man, who is relishing his big screen debut and being a first-time actor in his mid 70s. “Pat heard one of my stories and he told me afterwards that's my Jamesie (the character in the film). Even though it is set in the recent past, Philip said rural life has changed so much in just a few short decades. “It was the best time of my life,” the South Roscommon man said of the filming experience. I based Jamesie on old characters I grew up with Glangevlin, not too far from where the book is set,” or the characters who visited the family when they moved to Knockcroghery.

By the time I’ve taken the obligatory photo of said coffee, that paper straw is but a distant memory. Look, I love sea turtles as much as the next girl, but don’t lie to me by saying that a paper straw will work just like a plastic one. And yes, we might also drink oat milk in our coffee, ‘because it produces fewer greenhouse gases that regular milk’. But I think drinking oat milk is a bit like training for a marathon; no one would do it if you couldn’t tell people about it. I can be a big girl, drink something with a paper straw.

For nearly two hours in Marie Jones’ engaging Irish comedy “A Night in November,” James Evans demonstrates how an actor keeps an audience glued to their every word. He is married and in a routine job handling welfare and jobless claims for people he barely acknowledges as human. The violent nature of the shouts and posturing of the fans leads Kenneth to question what he has always known. He plays one of Kenneth's office clients who doesn’t understand that Dublin is in a different country. Through March 15, Florida Studio Theatre Stage III, Bowne’s Lab Theatre, 1265 First St., Sarasota.
