Barbados as country is known to be a country to punch above its weight if the words of the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan is to be believed. During the apartheid era Barbados was among the first to request sanctions against the racist regime after a Barbadian seaman was murdered by the South African police. As a former colony the proverbial colonial string was severed with the British in 1966 when Barbados became independent, thanks to the late Rt Hon Errol Barrow, first Prime Minister of Barbados. Sadly, Barbados still loiters on the steps of Westminister Abby as the Queen still remains head of state through the ceremonial office of a Governor General. Barbados is indeed a paradise and its connection to Liberia cannot and should not be ignored but be exploited.

She became Liberia’s first female Auditor General, confirmed by the Senate on February 24, 2014 and sworn to seven-year tenure on March 26, 2014. As auditor General of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Gaye was responsible for supporting the Legislature in promoting accountability and transparency in the use of Liberia’s public resources. This requirement is fulfilled through the execution of her Mandate, which is detailed in the General Auditing Commission Act of 2014. Prior to her appointment as Auditor General, Ms. Gaye served as Foreign Service Inspector General with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she was responsible for inspection of Liberia diplomatic and consular establishments abroad.

DISTRICT TWO, Grand Bassa – Residents of William Potter Town and Gborpue Town in Marlor Clan, District 2 in Grand Bassa County are left with no alternative but to drink from contaminated creeks due to lack of safe drinking water in their area. Hundreds of rural residents in William’s Potter Town and Gbarpue Town in Grand Bassa County still rely heavily on creek water both for cooking, drinking, washing and bathing. Anthony Toe, a resident of William Potter Town said that their rights have been denied by their leaders, adding they’ve been deprived of safe drinking water. According to her, she has played a major role in helping to ensure safe drinking water in her district by providing hand pumps. Among these rights are the right to safe drinking water and the right to live in dignity in ones country of choice.

Monrovia – A commander of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), has alarmed over the involvement of a member of the 54th Legislature in the sale of illegal drugs. And he said even if you search my car and see anything there, you can’t do anything about it. She made a rallying call on residents, including students, religious and community leaders to immediately inform the LDEA whenever they discovered the sale of illicit drugs in their communities. Liberia is currently debating its draft revised drug law, which officials say when passed into law, will be a big boost to the country’s fight against illicit drugs. The latest commitment in the tone of US$20 million for road connectivity is in addition to the ongoing Somalia Drive road project.
