Its purpose is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. Arts and crafts were also on display as books authored by Liberians and sculptors of some of the wildlife species and traditional symbols in Liberia were on sale. “Liberia needs investment that can support tourism, and ecotourism specifically, has a great opportunity”, said James Desmond, Co-founder of Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue and Protection (LCRP), the country’s first and only sanctuary for orphaned chimps. According to Desmond, through the conservation of the country’s rich biodiversity, especially the wildlife species, ecotourism will boost Liberia’s fledging tourism industry and spur economic growth.

MONROVIA – Citizens United for Constitutional Democracy-CUFCOD, a local pro-democracy and rights advocacy group which specializes in tabulating population perception based constitutional governance and democratic governance issues has released its latest survey which states that 80% of Liberians want double nationality (dual citizenship). Lofa, Margibi, Bassa, Maryland, Sinoe, Bomi, and Grand Cape Mount counties shared the remaining 13% of the research’s questionnaires. “When asked which of the proposals stood as the touchiest, at least 68% of the participants underscored dual citizenship as the most centrally discussed proposal surrounding the impending referendum,” CUFCOD statement indicated. The exercise is anticipated to be carried out in a popular referendum in straight compliance with article 50 of the Liberian constitution. The compilation of this representative survey report was peer reviewed, corroborated, and concluded on September 10, 2020.

President George Weah’s much anticipated Cabinet shakeup will see Information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe becomes head of the Liberia Maritime Authority while Commerce Minister Professor Wilson Tarpeh heads to the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA). SADLY, PRIOR to the printing of additional LD banknotes, the banking system had experienced dire liquidity problems, including mutilated banknotes and insufficient banknotes in the banking system to meet depositors’ demand for cash. IT IS APPROACHING FOUR months now since the Central Bank of Liberia announced the secure arrival of additional LD4 Billion Liberian Dollar banknotes into the country. According to Madam Pearson, there are L$ 21 billion in circulation with huge sum of mutilated notes on the market. This, she said makes the Four Billion Liberian Dollars grossly insufficient to address the issue of mutilated banknotes on the market.
