29 Liberian youths empowered in Filmmaking and Media for Peace
Monrovia – The National Adult Education Association of Liberia (NAEAL), under the project “Right On” Film for Change and Development Project, has certificated 29 young Liberians in Filmmaking and Media for Peace. He said the films were produced after the participants have been taught in screenwriting, treatment writing, Directing, Producing, Camera, and Editing and Media for Peace. One of the beneficiaries, Jenneh Nyumah of Lofa who built her focus on camera testified of how her capacity has been developed stronger just from Right On filmmaking training. The training in Liberia was conducted by Luther N. Mafalleh, Evelyn Kpadeh Seagbeh, Joseph F. Doe, Augustine G. Kessellie and Othello Zordyu. Right On Filmmaking project is also implemented in Ghana by the Ghana YMCA, Togo by CNA Togo, Sierra Leone by the Sierra Adult Education Association, and the Gambia by the University of Gambia.

Cancelled Air Maroc Flights Blamed for Liberians Students’ overstay in China
Said Minister Sonii: “The students in China are 11 who have completed and I have to move quickly to get their tickets to come back because there is still no flights from China here. The Ambassador called me this morning that if those folks are not out of China by the 28th, they will go to jail. The students have been categorized; of the 143 students, 43 are doing Medical sciences. The Minister acknowledged that there are currently issues with some 25 students who have overstayed in Morocco. Liberia Media Center Holds Forest Governance Forum For Editors
MONROVIA – The Liberia Media Center (LMC) with support from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) through the Multi-Stakeholders Forest Governance Project (MFGAP) has concluded a one-day editors’ forum to build a leading network of editors from the print and electronic news organizations throughout Liberia. The editors’ forum, which was held last Friday, September 18, 2020, was held at the Corina Hotel in Monrovia and was attended by several editors from both the print and electronic media. Sagie F. Kamara, Sr.; and the Forestry Development Agency (FDA) Managing Director C. Mike Doyen, said the forest sector of Liberia needs attention in the reportage of the media. He implores journalists to take advantage of the Freedom of Information Act to enhance their reportage of forest governance and other development stories. “We have taken significant steps towards forest governance and have made enormous progress in the sector, but there are still challenges,” Mr. Doyen concluded.

Other healthcare workers honoured were Dr. Alseny Balde and Dr. Nana Keita from Guinea, and Dr. Issa Turay from Sierra Leone. On behalf of the honourees, Dr. Nyan thanked the State of New York for the recognition and honour and the African Immigrant Commission for highlighting the contributions of African Immigrants to healthcare in the United States and the world. Henry Costa during his live session on Facebook over the weekend that Mr. Ojo, having been denied a diplomatic passport during the regime of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2014 return to Liberia and defied the system under the current regime, attained a diplomatic passport and was posted to Mexico as Liberia’s Honorary Consulate General. A Young Liberian Scholar Welcomes President Weah’s call on doctors
