The CPP in their opinion believes the President’s letter rather focuses only on a stimulus package to address the so-called economic fallout of the health crisis without dealing with the cause. According to them, unless the health crisis is addressed, there can be no way of assessing and seriously addressing the resultant economic fallout. “Even if a listing of beneficiaries and the amount owed is presented along with the financial institutions concerned, such listing should be subjected to verification by the General Auditing Commission (GAC) before payment is done. “The “other creditors” as alluded by the President creates a big opening for fraud as was the case with the US$25 million mop-up exercise. US$15 To Begin Funding Domestic ArrearsOn the President’s measures to fund domestic arrears, the CPP is recommending that the Executive branch of government should include the US$15 appropriation in the next fiscal budget and prioritize arrear payments for relevant debt that impacts economic recovery.

LIKE EVERY COUNTRY where the deadly COVID-19 has hit, healthcare workers have become easy preys and targets for infections. LIBERIA APPEARS to be joining the fray as more and more healthcare workers are falling prey to the killer virus. IN A MESSAGE TO STAFFERS a day after one of its own was tested positive, NPHIL wrote:Dear Colleagues, hope this email finds you well. THIS SUGGEST THAT there is a serious need for adequate PPE’s to prevent the spread by healthcare workers. LIKE EBOLA, healthcare workers without the proper protection are at risk of being infected and infected others.

Monrovia – Liberia’s four major opposition political parties have called on the Legislature to disapprove President George Weah’s request to pay loans market women and petty traders owed banks prior to the Coronavirus outbreak. Much like the US$25 million that was intended for mopping up excess Liberian dollars,” the CPP wrote in their respond the President. The ‘other creditors’ as alluded by the President, the parties claimed, creates a big opening for fraud as was the case with the US$25 million mop-up exercise. “A comprehensive distribution plan must be developed that clearly address issues such as who benefits, the frequency of distribution as well as the composition of the food aid. To raise the public confidence in the fair distribution of the food aid program, the partied called on the committee in charge of the food aid to incorporate representations from recognized and reputable religious, traditional, youth and student groups, and other eminent citizens in the society.

Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home. COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact (within about 6 feet) for a prolonged period. Recent studies indicate that people who are infected but do not have symptoms likely also play a role in the spread of COVID-19. The memo also confirmed FrontPageAfrica’s publication that Mr. Soko provided a fake name, Benjamin C. Tokofo, to lab technicians when he went for testing. As a result, it took the administration two days to find out his true identity after his test came out positive.

Monrovia — The attention of the Ministry of Health has been drawn to an online article by frontpageafricaonline.com alleging conflict of interest including amongst other things diversion of resources and medical supplies by the Minister of Health, Dr. Wilhelmina S. Jallah. It is inconceivable to suggest any such transaction can occur at the Ministry given internationally established structure the Ministry has in place. Diversion of public funds to personal use is criminal; therefore, to suggest that a public servant is involved in such act without producing a single piece of evidence is mindboggling. It is also strange that FrontPageAfrica will only flag out the appointment of the CMO as violation of the JFK Act. It clearly painted the insensitivity of the poster to the effect of the national pandemic threading the survival of our people.

Change this by immediately reorienting our national compass, ensuring equitable redistribution of the national resources to begin building this all-supportive, national foundation. Elected local officials can get a much-needed experience in these local bodies before going to the national legislature. Liberia must reinstitute the “village order”, where those who apply themselves are given preference, position, honor and respect; not the other way around. If we fail to do this, we will have no grounds to criticize what’s happening in Liberia. Adapting cultures that are not ours creates the kind of societal confusion and disorganization that is pervasive in Liberia today.

He maintained that poor sanitary conditions, lack of electricity, high rate of unemployment, among others make the imposition of a lockdown mandate to prevent the spread of the coronavirus inapplicable in Liberia. He added that Liberia’s health system remains backward as compare to countries in the Americas, Asia, and Europe that have already introduced a lockdown to curb COVID-19. He maintained that most people initially died from the Ebola virus outbreak in Liberia because, the command and control center was not functional. “Lockdown of Monrovia will not stop the spread of the coronavirus; and it will not stop the spread of the coronavirus in any Africa cities. No number of lockdown will stop the disease; we are putting people into more poverty; we are creating agitation.
