Organisers, the Tunisian African Business Council (TABC), announced today that Libya’s Tripoli-based Finance Minister, Khaled Al-Mabrouk, has accepted an invitation to participate in its 6th Financing Investment and Trade in Africa 2023 (FITA 2023). The announcement followed on from a visit today by Issam Ben Youssef, TABAC Vice President, to Mabrouk in Tripoli to invite him to the event. The event will be held in Tunis from 20-21 September. Last week TABAC had announced that Director of Investment at Misrata Free Zone will be speaking at the event.

A 32-year-old man has gone on trial, accused of corrupting three minors via webcam. Mr. Justice Aaron Bugeja will try the accused without a jury, upholding an application filed by the accused who wished to avail himself of this legal right. He is accused of corruption of minors aged under 15, namely a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl. “The crime of corruption of minors doesn’t require contact, even the presence of the minor is sufficient,” said the lawyer. Lawyers Angele Vella and Danika Vella are prosecuting on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General.

Libya’s National Oil Corporation declared a state of emergency for its four oil ports amid a Mediterranean storm that swept through Greece last week and is now heading to northern Africa. The storm update comes as Libya’s oil production reached 1.207 million barrels daily, per the National Oil Corporation. NOC published the update on Facebook, also reporting that in August, total oil production stood at 36.5 million barrels. The CBL indicated that the decision came on Sunday following a meeting between Elkaber and Mousa Al-Koni, vice President of the Presidential Council who hails from the southern region.
