UNSMIL strongly condemned today the heinous killing on Friday morning of at least 15 migrants and asylum-seekers in Sabratha. It reported that 11 charred bodies were found inside the docked boat with a further four wounded bodies found outside. UNSMIL conceded that the exact circumstances remain to be determined, with the killings reportedly resulting from armed clashes between rival traffickers. It called on the Libyan authorities to ensure a swift, independent and transparent investigation to bring all perpetrators to justice. This attack is a stark reminder of the lack of protection migrants and asylum-seekers face in Libya, and the widespread human rights violations undertaken by powerful trafficking and criminal networks who need to be swiftly stopped and prosecuted, UNSMIL concluded.

The 2022 49ers’ blueprint is established: This is a defense-first team. And for the first time in more than a decade, that might be the right model for winning in the NFL. Per a league study, after three weeks, NFL scoring was down nearly a touchdown per game — the lowest output since 2010. Anecdotally, Week 4 didn’t do much to change the paradigm. The cause of the downturn is easy to spot: ...

Libyan rescue workers have recovered at least 15 bodies found on the coast in Sabratha including a number burned in a boat and others on the beach, a member of the Red Crescent in the city said on Friday. A security source in Sabratha said the dead people were migrants caught in a dispute between two rival groups of people smugglers in the northwest city, a major hub for illegal migration across the Mediterranean. Libya was a key route for clandestine migration towards Europe even before the 2011 uprising that overthrew dictator Muammar Gaddafi. People smugglers from the western city of Sabratha — some 300 kilometers (185 miles) from the Italian island of Lampedusa — continue to play a key role. Since the start of the year, more than 14,000 migrants have been intercepted and returned to Libya, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Monday.

"It's a combination of a lot of things," Hackett said Friday, regarding how to fix the passing attack. You can never practice that region enough and we have to execute better, we have to coach better, we have to come up with better plays and we have to run the ball more. It starts with me and getting better plays to those guys so they can execute it better." Hackett said "without a doubt" he will simplify the offense, but that doesn't change the call that will define the loss. It was my decision to do that and (we) just need to execute better."
