The non-payment event came just weeks after MAA’s controlling shareholder Tunku Datuk Yaacob Khyra came in as a non-executive director in KNM on Nov 1. When contacted by The Edge, Yaacob, who previously suggested the possibility of renegotiating or refinancing the Thai bonds, said he was briefed about the non-payment event at his first KNM board meeting. “I was quite disappointed that [the company] did not manage the non-payment event. “Because of this event of non-payment, it’s time for MAA to take a more serious role in the operations of KNM. At end-June, KNM had short- and long-term borrowings of RM711.86 million and RM623.48 million respectively, against cash of RM256.47 million.

(Reuters) - Taiwan's Chan Shih-chang rolled in a four-foot par putt on the final hole to win the $1 million Blue Canyon Phuket Championship on Sunday as the Asian Tour returned to action for the first time in almost two years. Chan pipped playing partner Sadom Kaewkanjana for the $180,000 first prize as he finished on 18-under for the tournament, one shot clear of the Thai golfer. Kim reached the 10th four-under for the day after a run of three successive birdies from the eighth and, at one point, he held a three-shot lead. That turned the tournament into a final hole shootout and, after both Chan and Sadom missed the green with their approach shots, the Taiwanese golfer claimed the title when he rolled in his par putt following Sadom's miss. The event was the first on the Asian Tour since the Malaysian Open in March 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic.

It would be unfair to describe Malaysia as a failed state, but we’re certainly on the wane. But we can contribute in our own ways, through constructive deliberations of ideas and proposals on the various aspects of creating a better Malaysia for all of us. The proposed Better Malaysia Assembly, initiated by Tan Sri Nazir Razak to formulate reforms, would certainly be a good deliberative platform if it can come under the auspices of the Conference of Rulers. The proposed Better Malaysia Assembly, with its non-partisan composition, can be the first step towards recalibrating our democracy, institutions and economy. We need to make Malaysia Better, and with the clock ticking, it’s time to engender political certainty and reforms.

Vegetarian diets are healthy for kids, as long as they get key nutrients needed to grow healthy and strong. It’s important your child understands that a "vegetarian" diet means a vegetable-based diet. Excellent vegetarian sources of iron include soy, lentils, chickpeas, black-eyed peas, beans and seeds like sesame and hemp. Sampling vegetarian eating one day a week lets them test it out and see if it is something they would like to continue. Be sure to use recipes from a vegetarian eating plan, rather than just leaving out the meat.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 27): Manipal Hospitals Klang has been renamed as Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre (BTMC). In a statement on Friday (Nov 26), Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) said the change in name came after its 100% acquisition of the hospital earlier this year. It said the rebranding of the 220-bed hospital reflects the group’s business strategy of distinguishing its internationally-certified hospitals according to their locations. RSDH acting group chief executive officer Peter Hong Kah Peng said BTMC is an excellent addition to the group’s network of facilities and will continue to set the benchmark for comprehensive healthcare services in Klang. "Renaming the hospital according to the neighbourhood it exists in not only creates a distinctive identity, but also helps the facilities to remain connected to the community it serves," he said.
