However, the significant hike in the financial requirements for both applicants and existing participants came as a shock. Another blow for applicants is the halving of the duration of the MM2H programme’s long-term social visit pass to five years, from 10 previously. What most found unfair was the fact that the new ruling also applies to existing participants whose passes have ended or will end. While it is understandable that the government wants to attract participants of real quality to retire in Malaysia, drastic changes such as these will drive them away. Already, some existing participants are considering moving back to their home country.

Muhyiddin added that being the prime minister was tough, especially at the time when the nation was in an unprecedented health crisis that led to an economic crisis. Muhyiddin acknowledged that it is clear that he has lost majority support and therefore no longer needs to prove his legitimacy as the prime minister. KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 16): Invest Selangor Bhd has rescheduled the Selangor International Business Summit 2021 (SIBS 2021) to Nov 18 to 21, due to the current Covid-19 situation in Malaysia. The investment promotion agency had previously announced that SIBS 2021 was slated to take place from Oct 7 to 10, but has now pushed back the event in hopes that the pandemic situation will have improved by November. “It is hoped that with the vaccination push under ‘Operation Surge Capacity’ and the state government’s Selvax initiative, the pandemic situation will have improved by November and will give trade visitors and participants more confidence to visit exhibitions and conduct business through SIBS 2021. Invest Selangor noted that SIBS 2021 will take place in a hybrid mode, with it being physically held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and virtually on the Selangor Business Hub portal. Invest Selangor said the decision to hold SIBS 2021 as a hybrid event is to enable businesses to still network with stakeholders worldwide despite travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"But we’re not alone anymore.”Earlier this year, the Carmen Sánchez Foundation formed here to provide support and lobby for legal reforms for survivors of acid attacks. There are children and men among the victims of acid attacks, but 80% are women, according to The Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI). ASTI documents about 1,500 acid attacks per year, but says the real number could be higher. Only two of Mexico’s 32 states have classified acid attacks on women as attempted femicide. Violence against women in Mexico extends far beyond acid attacks making it more difficult to gain attention.

KUALA LUMPUR: After a year-on-year (y-o-y) drop in core earnings over the first half of the year, MISC Bhd could continue to see negative pressure on its earnings as the short-term outlook for petroleum tanker spot rates remains challenging.According to Kenanga Research, the petroleum tanker spot rates could be the biggest external risk to MISC's quarter-to-quarter earnings fluctuations as 28% of its petroleum shipping fleet is exposed to the spot market. However, the research house remains bullish on the group's stable and attractive dividend yields of about 5%, coupled with its ESG-compliant angle, inclusion in the F4GBM index as well as its four-star ESG rating by FTSE Russell. "Maintain OUTPERFORM, with unchanged TP of RM8.10, pegged to 1.1x PBV. Post-results, we make no changes to our FY21-22E numbers," said Kenanga. In 1HFY21, MISC's core net profit of RM1.03bil was deemed within expectations at 48% and 55% of Kenanga's and consensus full-year estimates. The earnings were 27% lower y-o-y due to a plunge in spot charter rates dragging on petroleum shipping, weaker LNG shipping from higher vessel opex and widened losses in heavy engineering, partially offser by a better offshore segment from construction gains in Mero-3 FPSO.MISC's interim dividend of seven sen per share brought year-to-date dividends to 14 sen per share, which was also within expectations.

She is among many pets left behind when their owners tested positive for COVID-19 and were hospitalised or placed in isolation. With more than 3.7 million confirmed cases and over 100,000 deaths, Indonesia is battling one of the worst coronavirus epidemics in Asia. The "AD-19 programme" launched last month by rights group Animal Defender helps pets left in limbo while their owners deal with coronavirus infections. The pets picked up by Animal Defender usually get a checkup before going to an existing animal shelter. But my advice is, do not hug and kiss the dogs," Magda said.
