PETALING JAYA: After months of business disruptions and operating at reduced capacity, businesses in Malaysia are finding it harder to stay afloat if Covid-19 restrictions are prolonged. “The majority of business sectors are based in the Greater Klang Valley, which is still seeing daily cases above 10,000 and currently categorised as in phase one. “In addition, all other sectors should also be allowed to have a higher manpower capacity based on the fully vaccinated rate at the company level,” according to Soh. “Regardless of the NPR phases they are in, the government should allow companies to increase capacity if a high percentage of their workforce are fully vaccinated. In assisting businesses to reopen, following prolonged business closures, Wong urged the government to extend additional help to all industry players, regardless of their sizes.

While not exactly alien, shopping online wasn’t something I, as a baby boomer, was comfortable with, unlike my adult children, especially my second daughter, Kelly. I was also rather prejudiced against online shopping because my first purchase in 2018 was a dud. Looking for these reviews is the most time-consuming part of online buying for me. But spooked by the infectious Delta variant, I made my first online order of fruits and veggies last week. That’s just in the first three months of the year, and the growth will only get bigger as more people discover the joys, convenience and security of online shopping.

Where is the fuss to bring fresh air to indoor spaces to clear contaminated air? In a closed room, the concentration of virus particles can build up along with the risk of infection. This means that you could walk into a closed room and breathe in virus particles left behind hours ago by an infected person. Clean air matters for Covid-19 – there is a strong correlation between air pollutants and Covid-19, which both cause respiratory problems. Dr Shahrul says air purifiers with true Hepa (high efficiency particulate air) filters can help clean air.

Facebook and Twitter also cut pay for remote employees who move to less expensive areas, while smaller companies including Reddit and Zillow have shifted to location-agnostic pay models, citing advantages when it comes to hiring, retention and diversity. But in practice, some remote employees, especially those who commute from long distances, could experience pay cuts without changing their address. "It's as high of a pay cut as I got for my most recent promotion. I didn't do all that hard work to get promoted to then take a pay cut," they said. Employees working in the New York City office will be paid the same as those working remotely from another New York City location, for example, according to the spokesperson.

Kedah Mentri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, being a PAS leader, must surely have spent his career criticising other political parties before he became part of the government. On Tuesday (Aug 10), the police detained two individuals for allegedly insulting Muhammad Sanusi on social media recently. "First of all, I would like to apologise for the joke yesterday that has gone viral. I'm the type who likes to crack jokes, but perhaps my joke yesterday was disrespectful, and as such, I would like to apologise.
