As police gunfire echoed in central Seoul, our school, close to the Gwanghwamun intersection, suspended classes but only escorted students were allowed to flee. “When their names were called out through the classroom speaker, my friends left one by one,” my classmate wrote. “The following year, about a month into the first semester, our homeroom teacher didn’t appear for the morning assembly. Our teacher had my friend accompany him when he went to see a hospitalised student, and later attend her funeral. She didn’t know what repercussions her family would face if it was known that her father was in North Korea.

WELSON Sim is no stranger when it comes to mental pressure. “That year, I didn’t even qualify for the Asian Games or Commonwealth Games. I wasn’t ready for that and I wasn’t training for the Olympics at that point,” he said. I put away all unnecessary things from my mind, especially the pressure.”Another tip Sim offers is to focus on the present moment. We don’t need to travel back and forth between the college and training centres,” he said.

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Senate voted to advance a US$1 trillion infrastructure package on Saturday but remained on a slow path toward passage with two Republicans openly opposing behind-the-scenes efforts to wrap up work on one of President Joe Biden's top priorities. Eighteen of 50 Senate Republicans voted to move the legislation forward, with Senators John Cornyn and Deb Fischer backing the package for the first time. But on Saturday evening, progress stalled on an agreement on amendments that could have allowed the Senate to speed up consideration of the legislation. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said the Senate would convene at noon ET (1600 GMT) on Sunday to resume consideration of the infrastructure bill. Without that agreement, the Senate will hold a next procedural vote on Sunday evening, a Senate Democratic aide said.

They were so fond of cats, that they made hurting and killing a cat a sin as well as a crime. While love for cats predates history, historians and archeologists tend to focus on pets being taken in because they are useful. In ancient times, cats were at our sideWhen thinking of pets, we tend to focus on ancient hunting dogs. TAPIOBICSKE, Hungary (Reuters) - Some 40 Hungarian husbands, with their wives on their backs, clambered over rough terrain on Saturday in the nation's second wife-carrying contest. Guraly began preparations in January for the contest, which is said to have origins dating back to the Viking age. Estonian races have lent their name to the Estonian style of wife-carrying, with the wife upside down and her feet over her husband's shoulders, rather than a classic piggyback. "We devised a strategy, figuring out the best way of carrying my wife on my back," Mark Mazacs said. (Reporting by Krisztina Fenyo; writing by Krisztina Than; editing by Barbara Lewis)
