Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba said on Sunday that it was cooperating with a police investigation into sexual assault allegations aired by a company employee. A statement by Alibaba said the company also had suspended "relevant parties suspected of violating our policies and values," asserting that it had a "zero-tolerance policy against sexual misconduct." An unidentified female employee made the allegations in a lengthy internal posting quoted by Chinese media, which AFP is unable to verify. A hashtag for the allegation was among the top-viewed items on Chinese social media platform Weibo on Sunday. The loss of Malaysia singer Siti Sarah to Covid-19 was a terrible blow to the local entertainment industry, especially since she had just made a stirring comeback a few years ago. Mouth agape, Siti Sarah attempts to hit a high note, but to her sheer horror, instead of the dynamite vocals she’s known for, what comes out is only silence. “No voice, no voice,” the 34-year-old singer recalls, her hands shaking in the air to emphasise her point. After delivering my first kid, I lost some of my vocal range but it was not that bad. “In fact, I was even afraid to sing Semakin because music has changed so much today.

PETALING JAYA: With the Covid-19 pandemic showing no signs of abating, many theme parks and tourism industry players have resorted to using their own reserves as well as cost-cutting measures to sustain their operations. Malaysian Association of Amusement Theme Park and Family Attractions (Matfa) president Tan Sri Richard Koh said their members were already using whatever reserves they currently have to sustain themselves. We look at our reserves and allocate what we have to pay for workers’ salary, rent and bank loans. To cut cost, Koh said they had no choice but to retrench workers while those who remained had to take a pay cut or unpaid leave. In a recent post, Bukit Gambang Resort City in Kuantan said operations at its hotel and theme parks, including Safari Park, would be closed until further notice.

LIMA: Peru's new Prime Minister Guido Bellido said that the state plans to participate in key industries, including natural gas and new hydroelectric projects, under a new leftist administration. Unlike Castillo, Bellido is a longtime member of Free Peru and defines himself as a socialist. "In my opinion, natural gas is a strategic resource and needs to have government participation (as well) as new hydroelectric projects of large size," he added, specifying that the mining sector of the world's No. Bellido's intent to have the government participate in natural gas could have significant implications for the Camisea consortium, the largest fuel producer in Peru.
