PETALING JAYA: Three days after her cat was found brutally killed, Mur Salina Junaidi is still haunted by the images of the feline with its four paws dismembered. “To the wrongdoer, my cat’s pain is now over but it lasts for us and may it haunt you till the end, ” said the 20-year-old office worker. “My family is still trying to cope with grief after Cantik’s death, ” she said when contacted yesterday. Salina said as the family was devastated by the loss of the cat, they were keeping their five other cats safe in their cages. For now, she is grateful to the help offered by NGOs searching for the person who killed her cat.

CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (Reuters) - Norway's Sebastian Foss-Solevaag twisted his way down a rutted and slushy piste to take men's slalom gold in the final race of the Cortina d'Ampezzo Alpine skiing world championships on Sunday. Foss-Solevaag was the first Norwegian to win the world slalom title since Tom Stiansen in Sestriere in 1997, also on Italian snow, and his country's sole individual champion of 2021. He also helped Norway to team gold last Wednesday. Austria's Marco Schwarz, leader of the slalom World Cup standings and gold medallist in combined, straddled on the second run. Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said a suspected "transporter" was arrested on Saturday (Feb 20) in front of a four-star hotel here. "He confessed to having been working with a man by the name of 'Kenny' and had been paid RM1,600 monthly. His role was that of a transporter, where he would send the girls, who had been made into prostitutes, to customers. The suspect has been remanded for seven days, while the victim has been placed under protection.

The revision increases the fines for those who escape from quarantine and those who help plan or assist with escapes. A separate sub-decree specifically related to Covid-19 was also issued, stipulating that the fine for quarantine escapee will be from one to five million riel. The revised sub-decree No 129, signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen, amended provisions related to fines in Article 8. IPOH: Perak is expected to receive some 79,560 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the first phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. State health committee chairman Mohd Akmal Kamarudin said the vaccines would first be given to the frontliners. The Perak Mentri Besar and the state exco members will also be getting it during the first phase," he said on Sunday (Feb 21). "The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is concerned about the programme and will visit the stadium on Tuesday (Feb 23)," he added. Mohd Akmal said the second phase of the programme is expected to be held between April and August.

"The arrival of the first batch of the vaccine in my opinion is a ray of hope for our country.
