The case, marked MOS/601c/2025 and filed by the Osun State Government, was heard on Friday in Osogbo. In a Certified True Copy of the order titled “Warrant for Arrest of Defendant Who Has Disobeyed Summons (General Title – Form No. 1)”, addressed to the Osun State Commissioner of Police, the court stated in part, “Complaint has been made that the defendant(s) did allow unauthorised persons to operate and maintain 30 accounts opened in favour of the 30 Local Government Councils in Osun State with UBA Bank Plc. The prosecution said the action constituted an offence contrary to Sections 2 and 3(1) and (2), and punishable under Section 5(1) and (2) of the Osun State Local Government Accounts Administration Law, 2025. Court documents show that the remaining counts similarly relate to the alleged unlawful opening and operation of accounts connected to all 30 local government councils in Osun State.

Wike-backed PDP hails court judgement, urges unity, reconciliation

Army Rescues Kidnapped Clergyman in Enugu Operation
Troops of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under the Joint Task Force South East as part of Operation UDO KA, have successfully rescued a kidnapped clergyman, Reverend Johnson Onugwu, following a swift, intelligence-driven operation in Enugu State. According to a post obtained from the Nigerian Army’s X account on Friday, Onugwu was abducted from his residence in Ezimo Community, Udenu Local Government Area, at approximately 1:00 a.m. on January 29, 2026, by gunmen. The post read, “Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed in Udenu tracked the kidnappers to the Itabolo general area and later engaged them at Okpakeke Community. “The encounter resulted in a gun battle during which one of the kidnappers was neutralised, and the clergyman was rescued unharmed. Security forces also recovered an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and twenty rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.”The Nigerian Army stated that it is working in collaboration with other security agencies, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and vowed to continue denying criminal elements freedom of action within its area of responsibility

Dangote reaffirms capacity to supply 75 million litres of petrol daily
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reaffirmed its capacity to supply fuel volumes significantly higher than Nigeria’s estimated domestic consumption. In a statement on Thursday evening, the refinery said it can supply 75 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) daily, compared with an estimated national consumption of 50 million litres. Aside from petrol, the plant said it can supply 25 million litres of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) daily, against an estimated demand of 14 million litres, and 20 million litres of aviation fuel daily, far above the estimated maximum domestic consumption of four million litres. “The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery would like to reiterate our capability to supply the underlisted petroleum products of the highest international quality standard to marketers and stakeholders: 75 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit, 25 million litres of Automotive Gas Oil, and 20 million litres of aviation fuel daily,” the company said in a public notice. On Monday, the Dangote refinery announced an increase in its gantry price of petrol from N699 to N799 per litre.

Wike challenges Rivers govt over stadium approval for rally

FG approves N14bn for boat procurement
