Some Muslims youths in a video which surfaced online, stormed a shop rented by an Isese adherent in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, threatening them to vacate in the next seven days over alleged Isese gathering. The young clerics, numbering about 15, were seen threatening to cause chaos if the shop owner fails to vacate the premises before their ultimatum. Speaking in Yoruba, the cleric told the gathering to leave the city for them, adding however that, “if we meet you here in seven days time, whether the city is owned by us or you, let’s try it.”“In seven days, send them away, Alaran’s compound. Educationists have condemned some state governments’ failure to pay their debts to the West African Examination Council. The experts expressed dissatisfaction that the states’ indebtedness to WAEC had resulted in an eventual withholding of the 2023 WASSCE results of over 130,000 candidates from eight states by the council. She said: “With the National Scholarship Programme (NASP), we envision a Nigeria where every child, regardless of their circumstances, can access the best education available. “The inaugural National Scholarship Programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative is a four-year scholarship programme of One Million Naira per year and a laptop for each beneficiary. In a related development, a total of 370 farmers across the country are billed to benefit from the intervention of RHI. China has said the former chief of its Winter Olympics delegation was under investigation for suspected corruption, as the government pursues a crackdown on graft in the sports sector. Huizhong, 54, previously served as secretary-general of the Chinese delegation for last year’s Winter Olympics, which were held in Beijing in a Covid-secure bubble. Niger’s military administration on Friday gave the German and Nigerian ambassadors 48 hours to leave the country. “In reaction to Nigerian Ambassador Mohamed Usman’s refusal to reply to an invitation by the ministry for a discussion on Friday August 25 at 11.30 a.m., and due to other actions of the Nigerian government contrary to Niger’s interests, the ministry is giving 48 hours to Mr. Mohamed Usman’s to leave the Nigerien territory,” it said in a separate statement. Niger’s military administration earlier gave the French ambassador 48 hours to leave the country. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna sent an Aug. 8 note to express solidarity with Nigerien Ambassador in Paris Aichatou Boulama Kane who refused to leave her position after the military administration took power. The military is currently conducting a mass burial for personnel who died during an ambush and air crash in Niger State. Bandits had ambushed the troops in Niger State on August 14, 2023, killing 14 soldiers while seven were injured. The incident necessitated the deployment of the Nigeria Air Force evacuation aircraft.
