Firefighters were alerted to Shau Kei Wan after a dog was found walking around on a fourth-floor canopy Tuesday afternoon. At 12.13 pm today, the residents discovered that there was a black puppy walking around on the canopy of the fourth-floor of Oi Chak House apartment located on the Oi Tung Estate. The residents were worried about the puppy's safety and contacted the police for assistance. In the end, the firefighter resorted to playing with the puppy to lower its wariness, which caused it to get closer, allowing him to grab ahold of the dog and get it back inside. Many onlookers were seen praising the firefighter and clapping as the puppy was rescued from danger.

Govt proposes to extend health vouchers application to various GBA hospitals: sources
The government is mulling extending the application of health care vouchers on the mainland to cover more hospitals located in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), with details to be announced in the upcoming Policy Address, according to sources. Apart from the hospitals and medical institutions in Hong Kong, the elderly can only use their health vouchers in the mainland at the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital and its health centers. Sources have said that the initial target is to extend the voucher application to three to five Tier 3 Class A (Grade 3A) hospitals in the GBA, along with setting guidelines to provide more cross-border medical services to facilitate Hong Kong residents living there. However, due to the relatively complex administrative work and having to connect with the local medical system, it is not feasible for a large number of Grade 3A hospitals to be covered under the health care vouchers scheme immediately. The Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) said over 500,000 Hongkongers live in the GBA on a long-term basis and hopes the voucher coverage will be expanded to hospitals in Guangzhou, Dongguan, etc.

HK workers see 3.8pc pay rise - but GBA counterparts get more
It also polled 384 companies and 155,904 staff over 10 industries in nine mainland cities in the GBA during the same period. The results showed that employees in nine cities of the GBA enjoyed a 5.5 percent pay rise on average in 2023, 1.7 percentage points higher than that in Hong Kong. On the employers' side, it showed 98.6 percent of local firms offered a pay increase and 62 percent of them forecast a pay rise next year. In GBA cities, 71 percent of companies said they offered a pay rise this year, with 28 percent of them estimating to offer a salary hike in 2024. CTgoodjobs surveyed 449 graduates from 11 local universities and tertiary institutions and 217 local employers from 23 industries via online questionnaires in the third quarter of this year.

Haus Talk board OKs dividends
RESIDENTIAL real estate developer Haus Talk Inc. (HTI) on Monday said it would be issuing cash dividends amounting to roughly P27.69 million. HTI's board of directors was said to have authorized the declaration of cash dividends in the amount of one cent per common share to eligible shareholders. For the second quarter, HTI's net income climbed to P43.51 million, compared to P39.38 million recorded the previous year, mainly driven by higher sales. Consolidated revenues were also said to have improved to P230.7 million from P193.6 million in 2022. Total operating expenses, meanwhile, widened to P56.96 million from P34.21 million.
