The list of public places requiring vaccination does not include restaurants and offices. "In the normalization of Covid-19 pandemic controls, getting vaccinated is still the most effective measure at controlling the spread of Covid-19," Li said in an announcement on Wednesday. In Beijing and other cities across China, many government facilities already require people to show proof of vaccination before entry. Additional requirements are already in effect for medical workers, delivery workers and public transportation employees, who are all required to be fully vaccinated.

COLOMBO — Sri Lanka has asked Russia to provide fuel and resume tourist flights to help the country weather its unprecedented economic crisis, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said Wednesday. Sri Lanka had bought around 90,000 tonnes of Siberian crude in May through an intermediary in Dubai, but ran out of dollars to purchase more. Russia and Ukraine were among the top sources of tourists for Sri Lanka before February’s conflict began. Sri Lanka is facing its worst economic downturn since it gained independence from Britain in 1948. European nations, Australia and the United States have asked their citizens to avoid travelling to Sri Lanka because of the deepening crisis.

Data from over 1,000 clients revealed an upward trend, which meant an increasing number of Filipinos had resigned from their companies. At the national level, the labor turnover survey from the Philippine Statistics Authority also showed an upward trend from 2018-2021. Early this year, I was watching the local primetime news and learned that many health care workers in the country were already experiencing burnout. Here in the Philippines, despite the Mental Health Law, there are still barriers to accessing mental health care such as the lack of mental health care providers and facilities. Employees in private organizations who enjoy health benefits still have difficulty availing of mental health services since some HMOs still do not cover it.

As long as we're here alive at may kanya-kanyang opinion, I respect everyone's opinion (History is like gossip. Sources of disinformation should be exposed and strenuously refuted, and being a "victim of disinformation" is a most facetious defense. Native language education — not just Tagalog, which is what every initiative to implement "mother tongue" in schooling ends up defaulting to — is important. Unfortunately for the Philippines, it is home to 100-plus languages that are spoken or understood nowhere else on the planet. The world's lingua franca (which is kind of an ironic term, come to think of it) happens to be English.
