Health chief mulls real-name LeaveHomeSafe registration
Secretary for Health Lo Chung Mau said the government may take references from the mainland and Macau to set up a health code system, as well as require real-name registration for the LeaveHomeSafe app. He said that the authorities will consider introducing a health code system with red, yellow and green codes, where people are categorized into three groups according to their infection risks. "If we let the confirmed patients go around freely, the freedom of us who were not confirmed will be restricted." He also said the nucleic acid test is more accurate than the rapid test, which was not enough for the high-risk groups, especially staffers of residential care homes. The government will bear the cost of nucleic acid testing and he had communicated with the nucleic acid test suppliers on July 1, hoping to increase the detection capacity.

Protesters won’t stop until Sri Lanka leaders finally quit

Vargas dethrones Magsayo, claims WBC featherweight belt

A Centre for Food Safety spokesman urged the public not to consume the affected products if they had bought any. According to the information provided by the RASFF, the affected products have been imported into Hong Kong,” the spokesman said. The spokesman added that the Centre for Food Safety urged the importer to initiate a recall of the affected batches and that it will continue to follow up and take appropriate action. The European Union banned the use of ethylene oxide in the food industry as it is "carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic."

Japan mourns as Abe's remains arrive in Tokyo

State auditors found that the BSP and its contractor were tasked to produce and personalize 116 million Philippine ID cards for four years, but were unable to meet the required number of cards. This is 76 percent of the 36 million annual requirement, or short by 8,643,250 pieces, or 24 percent of the required deliveries of pre-personalized ID cards for 2021. The PSA, for its part, will manage the PhilSys database and ensure the availability, confidentiality, integrity, accuracy, and readiness of the data that would be personalized in the BSP-produced and pre-personalized cards. Requirements not metHowever, the production and delivery of ID cards did not meet the specified requirements of the PhilSys project. Factors such as pandemic restrictions, technical issues, the lack of personnel to operate card personalization machines and the limited supply of machine spare parts also affected the production of ID cards.

Escape passage sealed as police arrest 54 in gambling den raid
Police busted a mob-controlled gambling den that came with a secret escape passageway in Mong Kok on Friday night and arrested 54 people in total. A 38-year-old man surnamed Tang was arrested for operating a gambling establishment, while three other men aged between 23 and 27 were arrested for assisting in organizing the gambling den. The other 22 men and 28 women, aged 21 to 76, were arrested for gambling in a gambling establishment. It was understood that the gambling den was run by triad society 14K, and most customers were workers at the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market. During the operation, officers seized about HK$430,000 cash, over HK$1.33 million of gambling chips, 14 TV sets, some gambling paraphernalia, the advertising sign, and five Baccarat tables.

On bloggers' accreditation in Malacañang
PCOO even drafted a Department Order (DO) for interim Social Media Blogger Accreditation in July 2017. The purpose of the DO was "to provide an interim system of accreditation for social media bloggers' participation to cover special events attended by the President, in order to generate news and information for the citizenry through social media platforms." One example is the fuss over the accreditation of 14 bloggers covering the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). Mainstream media and social media practitioners could complement each other. If a code of ethics and standards are in place for the accreditation, and opposition bloggers are included, this is good for democracy.

Japan ex-PM Abe shooting suspect told police he intended to kill him: NHK
A man suspected of shooting Shinzo Abe told police he was unhappy with the Japanese former prime minister and intended to kill him, national broadcaster NHK said, citing police. The suspect, who is reported to have been a former Maritime Self-Defense Force member, is currently in police custody. Abe was rushed to hospital on Friday after being shot during a campaign speech.
