Health authorities said they have not set a certain number of cases needed before closing a school as a whole, as Hong Kong reported 3,256 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday. In addition, Hong Kong and Kowloon Kaifong Women's Association Sun Fong Chung Primary School and S.K.H. Holy Spirit Primary School reported cases earlier and had another class suspended. Concepcion has been calling on the HTAC to make a second booster shot available to more Filipinos as Covid-19 cases continue to rise nationwide. Concepcion suggested that the Philippines follow the lead of countries who have studied the merits of a second booster shot. The second booster coverage will include those outside of previous recommendations — persons 50 years and older and those 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised. The administration of a second Covid booster shot was allowed in the Philippines only in mid-May, two months after the US updated its vaccination guidelines to include even those as young as 50. In comparison, the Philippines permits the administration of second Covid booster jabs only among individuals 60 years and up, health care workers, and the immunocompromised.
