HONG KONG: Equities fell in Asia on Thursday as traders grew increasingly worried that central-bank moves to rein in inflation could tip economies into a recession. The move came as several top Federal Reserve (Fed) officials said they favored similar increases in the United States. After a weak lead from Wall Street, Asia was mostly in the red. Concern over the outlook was shared by Wall Street titan Jamie Dimon, who warned that the wave of unprecedented crises were combining to cause an economic superstorm. "More supply essentially soothes some of those inflationary fears, even if there is a lot more work to do when it comes to fighting inflation," he added.

Controversial San Juan assistant coach Yong Garcia and Valenzuela cager Lordy Casajeros have patched things up just a couple of days after the infamous spitting incident that marred the MPBL match between their respective teams last Monday. It can also be recalled that Casajeros even wanted the Games and Amusement Board to intervene in the incident and hand a ban to the Knights assistant coach. After the meeting, the two seemed to have buried the hatchet as they posed for a photo shaking hands in front of Estrada. “MPBL condemns any and all unsportsmanlike conduct, especially deliberate acts of violence. There’s no place for such act in this league and a similar offense would be dealt with even more severely” said MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes.

This modifying phrase commonly takes one of these five forms — a prepositional phrase, appositive phrase, infinitive phrase, gerund phrase, or participial phrase. The prepositional phrase "in Philippine senatorial lineups" serves as an adjectival phrase modifying the subject "the major political parties" of the main clause. The infinitive phrase "to improve sales" serves as an adverbial phrase modifying the subject "the company" in the main clause. It's called the nominative absolute or absolute clause, which some grammarians call the absolute phrase instead. Rather, the absolute clause modifies the entire main clause, adding information or providing context to it.
