Financial markets are really challenged
Therefore, it has surprised me that some in the financial markets suddenly believe that the US Federal Reserve will change its plan and hold back on the interest rate increases. Part of my position is based on the current journey across a piece of undescribed land combined with the experience I have gathered for more than 30 years in the financial markets. Moreover, I had my start in the financial markets when the German central bank, the Bundesbank, completely dominated European monetary policy. Before then, I expect continued fear in the financial markets, especially for the risk of recession, as well as the uncertainties arising from the high inflation and the continued interest rate hikes. The people have given their mandate; now BBM must lead
All this and more has happened in our 2022 national election. Governments and elected officials may use language of a "mandate" to lend legitimacy to actions that they take in office. Dwight Eisenhower, who was elected to two terms as US president, entitled his memoirs, Mandate for Change. Generally speaking, the nation's problems define a president's mandate more than the promises he explicitly makes during his campaign. Our people have clearly spoken and given their mandate in the election.

Scientists successfully grow plants in lunar soil
(UPDATED) WASHINGTON: That's one small pot of soil, one giant leap for man's knowledge of space agriculture: scientists have for the first time grown plants in lunar soil brought back by astronauts in the Apollo program. That would save future space missions much hassle and expense, facilitating longer and farther trips. As a control group, seeds were also planted in soil from Earth as well as samples imitating lunar and Martian soil. Their analysis showed that the lunar plants had reacted similarly to those grown in hostile environments, such as soil with too much salt, or heavy metals. In the future, scientists want to understand how this environment could be made more hospitable.

Hermit, martyr, journalist among new Catholic saints
VATICAN CITY — A Frenchman murdered in the desert, a Dutch priest killed in a Nazi concentration camp and an Indian lay convert are among 10 new saints being created by Pope Francis on Sunday. Most founded religious orders, but the new saints include Charles de Foucauld, a French soldier and explorer. He became a Catholic priest and lived among Trappist monks in Syria, in Palestine, and finally among the Tuaregs in the Algerian desert.
