According to the Sun Ferry, some 4,600 passengers had traveled from Central to Cheung Chau between 8am and noon on Sunday, a surge of about 23 percent over the same period last year. Some said they came to the island to relax as the Covid-19 pandemic faded away, plus today is the Buddha's Birthday and Mother's Day. Although this year's bun scrambling competition was canceled again due to the pandemic, many ritual activities and distributions of Ping On buns continued as usual. Many visitors went to enjoy the traditional festival vibe and buy Ping On buns, hoping their families could stay safe after eating them.

2 killed after truck hits motorcycle in Cagayan
TUGUEGARAO CITY — Two people were killed after a motorcycle caught fire after being hit by a truck in Enrile town in Cagayan province Saturday afternoon, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said. Fire protection officials have yet to identify the charred bodies of the motorcycle passengers who were thrown to a grassy lot after the head-on collision with the truck in Barangay (village) Roma Norte few minutes past noontime.
