Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso sees voters flocking to him as "the alternative" not just to Marcos, but also to consistent survey No. In fact, the spectacle of Marcos' rivals in dispute cannot but disappoint voters, especially those hoping for opposition unity from the media event. That may push many fence-sitters to Marcos, while shifting Moreno supporters to Robredo, out of dismay toward him or sympathy for her. Robredo supporters are said to be doing house-to-house campaigning to win over voters. Or Robredo, Moreno, Pacquiao, Lacson or any other "presidentiable"?

XINHUA PHOTONEW YORK: Asian markets fell sharply at the open on Friday, trailing losses on Wall Street after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) boss said an interest rate hike was likely forthcoming. A falling yen, due mainly to the interest rate gap between Japan and the United States, had boosted trade on the Nikkei 225 all of this week. But the prospect of rate hikes in the United States and ongoing pandemic disruptions in China, where millions are still under a harsh Covid-19 precipitated lockdown, weighed on Asian bourses. Cases in schools are expected as there is still risk of infection in the community, says Albert Au. The Centre for Health Protection's principal medical and health officer, Albert Au Ka-wing, said 250 schools have resumed in-person classes and that it had received seven reports of infection from six different schools yesterday. Two of the five infected teachers work in the same school, but Au does not think their infections are connected. "Most importantly, we have prevented infected pupils and teachers from returning to school to minimize the risk of transmissions on campus." That goes too for Cathay Pacific flight CX100 from Sydney after four passengers tested positive on arrival Wednesday.

Registered voters can check where they will cast their ballots using the precinct finder by typing in their full name and the city or municipality where they registered.
