Pagasa: Warm Wednesday with rain showers nationwide
MANILA, Philippines — Warm weather and isolated rain showers due to the easterlies are expected nationwide on Wednesday, Independence Day, according to the state weather bureau. “Inaasahan natin na medyo mainit pa rin ang mararanasan, habang sa hapon o sa gabi ay magkakakaroon tayo ng mga isolated rain showers and thunderstorms,” said Obet Badrina, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). Japan government bond yields drop
TOKYO — Japanese government bond (JGB) yields fell on Tuesday ahead of the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) policy meeting this week, with expectations that the pace of the central bank's tapering will be gradual. The 10-year JGB yield fell 1 basis point (bp) to 1.020 percent. "The market consensus is now that the BoJ's reduction of the bond buying amounts will be gradual," said Naoya Hasegawa, chief bond strategist at Okasan Securities. The 20-year JGB yield fell 2 bps to 1.820 percent and the 30-year JGB yield fell 2.5 bps to 2.160 percent. The 40-year JGB yield fell 2 basis points to 2.315 percent.

HKT optical fiber repairs disrupted internet services in TST and Jordan for six hours
Hong Kong Telecom's internet services in Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui were disrupted on Tuesday for more than six hours due to damage to its optical fiber cable. The mobile communications and Now TV services were also affected. HKT posted on its social page at noon today that emergency repairs are ongoing after one of its cables was damaged by a third-party project. However, as of 4 pm, the company said the repair work is still in progress due to the complexity of the site environment and engineering. The Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) and Long Win Bus (LWB) customer service hotlines were temporarily unavailable due to the incident, but have since resumed after 6 pm.
