But the SEC had not sought Rappler’s comment before it submitted a report to the CA, Lim said Monday. "It’s good for us, it gives us the opportunity to debate or litigate the effect of donation of PDRs to Filipinos," the lawyer added.

And the COVID-19 pandemic has only made things worse? Once more: Widespread violence against women exists, and is an evil that we must eliminate. The good news is – we do not need to wait for everyone to recognize the truth to act upon it.

US included in list of backsliding democracies
The United States has joined an annual list of "backsliding" democracies for the first time, the International IDEA think-tank said on Monday, pointing to a "visible deterioration" it said began in 2019. International IDEA bases its assessments on 50 years of democratic indicators in around 160 countries, assigning them to three categories: democracies (including those that are "backsliding"), "hybrid" governments and authoritarian regimes. The number of backsliding democracies has doubled in the past decade, now accounting for a quarter of the world's population. In addition to "established democracies" such as the US, the list includes EU member states Hungary, Poland and Slovenia. Adding backsliding democracies to the hybrid and authoritarian states, "we are talking about 70 percent of the population in the world," Casas-Zamora said.

Airborne transmission in Regal Airport Hotel
Airborne Covid-19 transmission was found in Regal Airport Hotel next to the Hong Kong International Airport, after two people observing quarantine on the same floor were confirmed with the N501Y mutant strain five days apart. They were a 36-year-old man arriving in Hong Kong from South Africa confirmed with the infection on November 15 and a 62-year-old man from Canada diagnosed on Saturday. Yuen appealed to the public to wear surgical masks and also urged the hotel to improve ventilation in the corridor by adding six more air purifiers. The delegation of mainland experts inspected the airport on Sunday, but they did not visit the Regal Airport Hotel. The Centre for Health Protection is tracing 28 people who had undergone quarantine on the fifth floor during the same period, including seven who have left.
