Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute applies for intellectual property rights for its environment-friendly insole. CONTRIBUTED PHOTOA comfortable and environment-friendly shoe insole was developed by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute via the "Diversification of Philippine Textiles Through Nonwoven Innovations Research and Development Program" or the Nonwoven Innovations Program, using natural textile fiber-based nonwoven and knitted and woven fabrics. Prototypes have already been developed using pineapple leaf fiber needle punched nonwovens with a combination of two or more layers: the upper lining, the lignocellulosic-based nonwoven textile and the optional backing support. The middle nonwoven layer acts as the cushioning component of the shoe insole, providing comfort and protection for the wearer's feet. Because of this new technology, a partnership with Creative Definitions was also forged to use the developed nonwoven in the insoles of their line of footwear; thus, supporting the objective to bridge the gap between research and industry.

Duterte supporters more prone to fake newsResults show that respondents who support President Rodrigo Duterte are more likely to believe in fake news and are less likely to believe in real news. “We find evidence that partisan supporters of President Duterte are more likely to inaccurately identify fake and real news, compared to partisan supporters of the opposition,” the authors of the study said. Meaning, there are opposite sides or poles to that, so we have noticed that we place President Duterte and VP Robredo as proxies of two different sides.) These approval ratings were used to determine and then calculate the degree of a respondent’s political polarization, a momentary division in support of two political elites. “Various studies show that respondents who trust mainstream media are less likely to believe in fake news and engage in conspiratorial thinking.

Ferdinand Marcos Jr, the son of late Philippines’ dictator Ferdinand Marcos. (Reuters)A group opposing the candidacy of the son of late Philippines’ dictator Ferdinand Marcos for next year's presidential race will ask the election commission on Wednesday to bar him from running because he has been convicted for tax evasion. The late dictator ruled the Philippines for almost two decades until his 1986 overthrow in the "people power" revolution. A trial court convicted Marcos Jr of tax evasion in 1995 for failing to file his income tax returns from 1982 to 1985. However, Marcos Jr has been elected governor, congressperson, and in 2010, as a senator.

"When they're viewing these pictures of their grandchild, they're really feeling what the grandchild is feeling. So, when the child is expressing joy, they're feeling that joy. When the children are expressing distress, they're feeling that distress." Evidence supporting the hypothesis has been found in societies including Hadza hunter-gatherers of northern Tanzania, where grandmothers provide nourishing tubers to their grandchildren. Grandmothers who reported a greater desire to be involved with caring had greater activity in brain regions of interest.

“There is a theoretical risk that if you get a third dose of Astra, your body already has pre-formed antibodies against that third dose. A human body fully inoculated with Astrazeneca already has pre-formed antibodies to prevent severe COVID-19 infections. This may also hold true, again theoretical, with the other adenovirus vaccines like Jassen and Gamaleya,” Salvana said. (In fact, the Gamaleya Center actually used different adenovirus for the first and the second dose precisely because they were really afraid of the preformed antibodies against the adenovirus. This means that health workers can get a booster in November if they got their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on or before May, or in August for one-dose vaccines.

Pharmally's Krizle Mago leaves House custodyMANILA, Philippines — Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. officer Krizle Grace Mago is now out of the House of Representatives’ protective custody after requesting that she be released from it, House good government and public accountability panel chair Rep. Michael Aglipay (Diwa party-list) said. Aglipay told reporters Wednesday that Mago left House premises on Monday after she wrote to the chamber’s leadership that she wanted out of the protective custody that she sought back in October. Following this explosive testimony, Mago went missing, only to surface at the House where she sought protective custody as she supposedly “cannot speak freely” about the congressional probes involving her company. She then appeared at a House hearing where she recanted her earlier testimony at the Senate on the tampering of face shields. Meanwhile, the Senate Blue Ribbon committee’s counterpart in the House chaired by Aglipay has worked to dispel allegations of overpricing in the supply contracts.

A prayerful moment with WaterwalkWaterwalk is the first single out of Waterwalk Records. And I just got a major prayer boost listening to this new song Waterwalk by Morissette. Waterwalk Records is going all out for Christian music and it is off to a good start with Waterwalk.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente"The country remains closed to foreign tourists. Only those under the allowed categories as set by the IATF-EID, if coming from green or yellow countries may be admitted to enter," Morente said in a statement. Morente issued the clarification after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) was swamped with queries if foreign tourists can now enter the country. Only Filipinos, balikbayan and foreigners with valid and existing visas issued by the BI and other specialized government agencies are allowed to enter the Philippines. Malacañang announced earlier that the Philippines will welcome foreign tourists "in due time," depending on the experience of other countries who have already opened their borders to foreign visitors.

Coup rumors emerge from House as elections draw nearerMANILA, Philippines — Rumors of yet another leadership change at the House of Representatives are swirling as battle lines are drawn for the crucial 2022 elections. Coup rumblings were first made public by House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, who on Tuesday denied that there were plans to unseat House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco of the administration PDP-Laban party. Under the agreement, Romualdez sits as majority leader, while Cayetano gets to sit as speaker for 15 months and Velasco takes the helm afterwards for 21 months. If anything, Aglipay said, coup talks originated from Romualdez’ camp whom he said wanted to shield the majority leader from any leadership change by threatening to unseat Velasco. At the dinner with lawmakers, Duterte endorsed a tandem between his long-time aide, Go, and his daughter, Duterte-Carpio.
