According to Locsin, the Philippine boats were on their way to transport food to Philippine military personnel in Ayungin Shoal when they were "blocked and water-cannoned" by the foreign vessels. "The Philippines will continue to provide supplies to our troops in Ayungin Shoal (Second Thomas Shoal). Ayungin Shoal, part of the Kalayaan Island Group, is an integral part of the Philippines, as well as the country's exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Hence, the Philippines has sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over Ayungin Shoal.

The coronavirus task force "approved in principle the entry of fully vaccinated tourists" from countries with low Covid-19 cases, the ministry said, adding that guidelines must be finalized. "Allowing tourists from green countries or territories that have the majority of its population vaccinated and with low infection rate, will greatly help in our recovery efforts," tourism minister, Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, said in the statement. The Philippines includes on its "green" list of approved countries Japan, China, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and India, among others.

ACEN starts commercial operations of Vietnam wind farmMANILA, Philippines — ACEN, the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group, has started commercially operating its 252-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Vietnam. A joint project with AMI Renewables, the wind project in Quang Binh province is one of the largest wind farms in Vietnam. The Quang Binh wind farm is expected to produce 648 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year, enough to power 270,000 homes and help avoid 580,000 tons of CO2 annually. Its wind turbines stand at 145 meters in hub height, which allows the optimization of wind energy production. The Quang Binh wind farm is the third joint project of ACEN and AMI Renewables.

ADVERTISEMENTIn 2020, a total of 47,435 people were engaged in fisheries and its related activities in Pangasinan and La Union, the research institute said. “Any intense extractive and manipulative activities in Lingayen Gulf could severely affect the fisheries that thrive on ecosystems in the gulf as well as the livelihood of fishing families there,” UPMSI said. The mariculture parks in the gulf also produced 58,273 MT (P6.7 billion) in 2019 for both Pangasinan and La Union.
