We are, of course, talking about the position you put your windshield wipers in when you park your vehicle before or during a storm. Some brief context:Back in February, we ran a weekend post on winter windshield wiper position, noting that there are two sides to this divisive issue, and then shared the stance of Kevin Williams, a writer at Car Bibles—who is firmly against winter windshield wipers standing at attention. Long story short, according to the experts, it doesn’t matter how you position your windshield wiper blades during a winter storm. Why windshield wiper position doesn’t really matterThough you might expect car professionals—in this case, engineers that design and test wiper blades—to have strong opinions on the subject, the ones The Drive spoke with at Bentley did not. In other words, your car’s windshield wipers should be able to handle almost anything that could happen to them when your car is parked outside in winter weather—regardless of their position.

The import of chemicals for non-agricultural industries will be allowed only on the prior approval of relevant authorities, says the Controller General of Imports and Exports. Sri Lanka had banned the importation of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides with effect from last week. The Finance Ministry had issued a gazette that, without completely banning the import of all agrochemicals, allows for some items to be brought in after May 6 this year subject to special import licence regulations. The gazette also effectively permits any shipments of agrochemicals that were seaborne on or before May 5 to arrive, be cleared and distributed. The Gazette 2226/48 of May 6, signed by Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as Finance Minister, had been published on the website of the Department of Imports and Exports Control.

By Neil Craven, Financial Mail on SundayPublished: 16:51 EDT, 8 May 2021 | Updated: 06:41 EDT, 9 May 2021American burger giant Wendy's is turning the heat on McDonald's and Burger King with a plan to open up to 400 outlets in Britain, just months after becoming the second-largest burger chain in the US. It has a motto specifically for the UK market – All Beef, No Bull – which, Pringle said, would enshrine its approach to food preparation and supply, customers and staff. A big fan: Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger enjoys a Wendy's burger in the 1970sThis will be seen as a swipe at rivals such as McDonald's, which has come under fire for using contracts that do not guarantee working hours each week. International boss Abigail Pringle claimed Wendy's is 'a great underdog', adding: 'We want to be the best, not always the biggest. Wendy's has credited its emphasis on quality as part of the reason it has dethroned Burger King over the past year as the No2 burger company in the US.

By Ben Miller For MailonlinePublished: 04:18 EDT, 9 May 2021 | Updated: 04:46 EDT, 9 May 2021Barcelona have failed in a renewed attempt to prise Holland centre back Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, according to reports. LaLiga hopefuls Barca missed out on De Ligt when he joined Juve as a teenage sensation in 2019, signing for £67.8million after helping Ajax reach the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals and win the Eredivisie title. La Blaugrana had wanted De Ligt to join at the same time as fellow Holland prodigy Frenkie de Jong, who completed his move from the Dutch giants for £65million that summer. Ronald Koeman knows De Ligt from his spell as Holland manager and Barca bosses mentioned De Ligt during talks with Juventus over the failed European Super League, AS has reported. Juventus reportedly dismissed the idea of De Ligt being reunited with De Jong, preferring to keep hold of the man who signed a five-year deal when he moved to Italy.
