After transitioning in 2012 she moved to a new level, finishing second at the 2017 IWF World Championships and winning continental titles and other elite competitions. Hubbard was sixth at the last IWF World Championships in 2019, having recovered from injury – and three of those who finished ahead of her will not be competing in Tokyo. A Government source told MailOnline that Portugal would 'probably' be on the 'green list' – but along with only a 'tiny' number of other destinations. They are likely to be added in the next wave of green list countries opened up. However, it is hoped many popular holiday destinations will be added to the 'green list' by the end of June as the traffic light list is reviewed. Former ministers yesterday urged Mr Johnson to ensure 'as many holiday destinations as possible' are placed on the initial 'green list.' 'The government should also — consistent with safety — ensure that as many holiday destinations as possible are put on the green list.

The World Health Organisation announced on Friday (May 7) it had approved a Covid-19 vaccine from China’s state-owned drugmaker Sinopharm for emergency use. The vaccine, one of two main Chinese shots that collectively have already been given to hundreds of millions of people in China and abroad, becomes the first Covid-19 shot developed by a non-Western country to win the WHO’s backing. It is also the first time the WHO has given emergency use approval to any Chinese vaccine for any infectious disease. A WHO emergency listing is a signal to national regulators on a product’s safety and efficacy, and would allow the shot to be included in Covax, the global programme to provide vaccines mainly for poor countries. The WHO has previously given emergency approval to Covid-19 vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, and, last week, Moderna.

But one thing dogs do not love is getting their claws trimmed, so we asked veterinarian Dr. Valerie Patton to give some of her best tips for easily, painlessly cutting your dog’s nails. Cut a little, give a treat, and repeat. If your dog has dark nails, you won’t be able to see the quick, so just take off tiny amounts at a time. Finally, be sure to replace the nail clippers periodically, as you want them sharp, not just squeezing the nail. And get some Kwik Stop or cornstarch on hand in case you cut into the quick.

A female Olympic weightlifter says women complaining about transgender athlete Laurel Hubbard competing in the Tokyo Games are being told to 'be quiet'. Hubbard is on track to become the first transgender athlete to compete at an Olympics after the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) modified qualifying requirements for the Tokyo Games on Wednesday. But Tracey Lambrechs, who also competed for New Zealand in weightlifting, has said she believes Hubbard competing in the sport would be unfair to other women. She competed in men's weightlifting competitions for years, setting a number of New Zealand junior records in 1998, before transitioning in 2013. Hubbard is aiming to make New Zealand's Tokyo Olympics squad to contest the women's +87kg category, an event in which she is currently ranked 16th in the world.
