The Jardalu mangoPatna: The Jardalu mango, Katarni paddy and Magahi paan have got the government of India's geographical indication (GI) tag, state agriculture minister Prem Kumar said on Monday. The government of India's GI Journal on November 28 gave the tag to the Jardalu producer union of Mahesi village under Sultanganj block of Bhagalpur district. Agriculture department sources said one Ali Khan Bahadur had first planted the Jardalu mango tree in the region. For Katarni paddy, known for its long, thin grain and fragrance, the journal registered the paddy growers' union of Jagdishpur village in Bhagalpur. For the paan, the tag has been given to the Magahi Betel Growers' Welfare Union of Deori village in Nawada district.
