Snehal SenguptaSalt Lake: At least 60 complaints of theft of wallets have been reported by visitors to the 42nd edition of Calcutta Book Fair, being held at Salt Lake Central Park. An officer of the Bidhannagar commissionerate said most of the snatchers and pickpockets active in and around Central Park during the Book Fair were from Baguiati, Rajarhat, Barasat, Chotto Jagulia (near Barasat) and Ghutiari Sharif, in South 24-Parganas. "These men are coming to Salt Lake to target visitors to the Book Fair," the officer said. The commissionerate brass has formed three teams - anti-molestation, anti-crime and anti-snatching - for Book Fair. Special checkpoints have been placed at all entry points of Salt Lake and the cops posted near the footbridges connecting the township to VIP Road have been put on alert.
