US president adviser, Massad Boulos, has welcomed Libya’s agreement on a unified national budget, the first in more than 13 years. Boulos described the deal as an important step towards national unity and stability, following months of US-backed mediation. He said rival authorities in eastern and western Libya had made compromises in what he called the national interest, helping to strengthen financial stability and support the Libyan dinar. Boulos added that the budget would fund development projects across the country and ensure continued financing for the National Oil Corporation, potentially boosting production and revenues. The US official said the United States would continue to support efforts to unify Libya’s institutions and prepare for national elections, in coordination with the United Nations.
