A criminal court in Zawiya has sentenced a man to death for the 2021 killing of Ali Abu Ajila Qari, according to the Office of the Attorney General. In a statement issued on Sunday, the office said the court also ordered that the defendant be stripped of legal capacity. The court handed the man an additional three-year prison term for possessing a firearm and ammunition without a licence. He was also sentenced to one year in prison with hard labour, to be served immediately, for causing minor injuries to another person using a weapon. The charges further included damaging movable property through the use of violence, the statement added.
