China’s Xi promises to protect free trade at Apec as Trump snubs major summit
This year’s two-day Apec summit has been heavily overshadowed by the Trump-Xi meeting that was arranged on the sidelines. “The more turbulent the times, the more we must work together,” Mr Xi said during Apec’s opening session. Mr Xi also expressed hopes to work with other countries to expand co-operation in green industries and clean energy. She said she also hopes to deepen her personal relationship with Mr Xi. Leaders and other representatives from 21 Asia-Pacific Rim economies are attending the Apec meeting to discuss how to promote economic co-operation and tackle shared challenges.

Prince Andrew to lose 'Prince' title, Buckingham Palace says
It comes as His Majesty King Charles has today (October 30) initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew. The Royal family member will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: "Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. It is understood that although Andrew denies the accusations, Buckingham Palace considers that there have been “serious lapses of judgment”. Prince Andrew will move to a property on the Sandringham Estate, reports suggest.

But there is a subtle and important difference between the idioms that we have used in the past, and the increasingly normalised use of “pass” and “pass away”. I suspect that it is precisely this ambiguity that is making “pass away” so common. But I want to argue that “pass” and “pass away” should not be the default terms that Christians use.
