France’s embattled prime minister, Sébastien Lecornu, resigned on Monday less than 24 hours after forming a cabinet, catching the nation by surprise and making his government the shortest-lived in modern French history. Other forces, like the Socialist Party, argued that it was time for a left-wing prime minister to govern. Mr. Macron made no public comments on Monday, and it remained unclear what option he might pick. Mr. Lecornu, a close ally of Mr. Macron, was appointed less than a month ago. He is the third prime minister to leave office in under a year, a level of turmoil that until recently was rare in France.

When I read his remark, I was delighted by his ability to get straight to the heart of the Gospel. He claims that the story of the ten lepers (or the grateful Samaritan — labels vary) is “admittedly secondary and [Greek] in origin”. I recall my tears as I expressed how I wanted to be like the Samaritan leper. I was still wondering, after reading Bultmann, why a Samaritan would be sent to a Jewish priest. Bultmann’s point about the Samaritan leper and Jewish priests may finally have helped me towards an answer.

A manufacturing sector lobby group has called for Rachel Reeves to boost green energy investments by granting them exemption from a real estate tax. At present, manufacturers that invest in greener technologies see the value of their factories increase, which in turn increases their business rates bills - a system Make UK has branded "perverse", The Times reports. “However, it’s perverse that by making such investments their business rates increase. This is not just actively dissuading them but penalising them for ‘doing the right thing’.”Make UK has called on the chancellor to protect manufacturers investing in green assets from business rates for three years, as well as to extend tax reliefs for capital stock linked to industrial automation and decarbonisation. A Treasury spokesman told The Times: “The chancellor makes tax policy decisions at fiscal events.

Air India (For representational purposes only)AI 117 incidentNEW DELHI: The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP), a pilots’ body, on Sunday called for a thorough inspection of the electrical systems of all Boeing 787 planes operating in India “in the interest of air safety. ”The FIP’s appeal to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) comes a day after an Air India Boeing 787 flight from Amritsar to Birmingham deployed emergency turbine power while preparing to land in the UK city. The incident, too, comes just months after another Air India Boeing 787 operating between India and the UK (Ahmedabad-London) crashed minutes after take-off in one of India’s worst aviation disasters.“It is pertinent to note that the incident (Amritsar–Birmingham) is another pointer towards the Air India crash of B-787 aircraft. Thus, in the interest of air safety, FIP insists that DGCA must thoroughly check and investigate the electrical system of B-787 aircraft in the country,” the Federation said in its letter to the DGCA, according to PTI.“There have been numerous incidents on the B-787 aircraft. “Subsequent to the crash, DGCA checked only the fuel control switches of B-787 in Air India (fleet),” it added. The latest incident involved the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) of Air India flight AI 117 — a Boeing 787 Dreamliner — deploying during the flight's final approach, at around 400 feet, just seconds before landing.

This event has been transmuted into “The Gold,” an involving British drama premiering here Sunday on PBS. Critiques of British class structure and bad actors within the police department are raised high enough to be impossible to miss. The detectives have a computer, but only Brightwell has an idea of what it’s for or how to use it. A tracking device, apparently the only one in all of British law enforcement, has to be imported from Belfast (and sneakily at that). And the remodeling of East London into a gentrified glass forest, a minor plot point, has only just begun.

Britain’s main opposition party on Sunday promised that, if it returned to power, it would deport 150,000 illegal immigrants each year by creating a new removals force with far-reaching powers, modeled on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in the United States. Under the plans, announced by Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party, facial recognition technology would be used to track undocumented immigrants, the asylum system would be overhauled and Britain would leave an international human rights treaty. “The fact is, there are too many people in our country who should not be here,” Ms. Badenoch told the BBC, adding that “they don’t belong here, they are committing crimes, they are hurting people.”Ms. Badenoch made her pledge on the opening day of an annual conference that is seen as critical for her leadership of the party, which has sunk in opinion polls since she took over last November. Even if she steadies her position, the next general election could be as far off as 2029, making Ms. Badenoch unlikely to reach Downing Street any time soon.
