By John Towfighi, CNN(CNN) — Volkswagen is recalling 114,478 vehicles in the US because of safety concerns over their airbags, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday. The recall includes certain 2006-07 Passat Sedans, 2012 to 2014 Passat models and 2017 Passat Wagons, as well as certain 2017 to 2019 Beetle and Beetle Convertible models. Airbags on the driver’s side of the vehicles pose a risk of exploding due to long-term exposure to humidity and high temperatures. Owners can have their driver’s side airbag replaced for free at a Volkswagen dealership. Customers can contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 with questions about recalls.

Washington (CNN) — The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a quarter point Thursday on the heels of the US presidential election earlier this week. It’s the second rate cut since the central bank began to lower borrowing costs in September, though the latest cut is smaller. Analysts at Nomura, on the other hand, fully expect Trump to follow through with his plans quickly, estimating just one rate cut next year. At some point, Fed officials will have to incorporate expected changes in fiscal policy in their official economic projections. Since it’s clear that Fed officials are not in any rush to cut rates, that could mean the Fed stands pat a few times next year.

Los Angeles, it turns out, has no shortage of products that would be just as appropriate to find under the holiday tree as in a gifting-suite swag bag. That, along with The Times logo embroidered on the back, makes this item from Shop LA Times stylish stealth merch at its best. (Note: This is an online-only option unless you’re a member — or magically have access to the on-site gift shop.) By artist, screenwriter and director Alex Prager, it reads: “Los Angeles is still the wild west. It’s a city ripe with endless possibilities.” If the city had a gift shop, this would be a bestseller.

In an update at 1 p.m. Thursday, the YPD said that it had eyes on the primates and were attempting to entice them with food. With national attention on this ranked game, LSU will reportedly have a special guest on the field throughout the game, and it lives up to their namesake. Multiple reports indicate that a live tiger will be on the field for the first time in almost a decade. He lives across from the stadium in an enclosure, and the 8-year-old tiger has never attended a game at Tiger Stadium. Jeff Landry said this year that he wished to see a live tiger back on the sideline in Death Valley, and this move could be due to that wish. According to the Louisiana Illuminator, Landry set up an unofficial committee to talk to LSU about bringing a live tiger back to the sideline.

Chatbots use an immense amount of power to respond to user questions, and simply keeping the bot’s servers cool enough to function in data centers takes a toll on the environment. In completing those calculations, these servers, typically housed in data centers, generate heat. That means the amount of water and electricity an individual query requires can depend on a data center’s location and vary widely.
