In the wee hours of Thursday morning, Angelenos will get their first peek at a double whammy astrological delight — a Hunter’s moon that also happens to be a supermoon. The full moon in October is known as the Hunter’s moon because it takes place around the start of hunting season and traditionally offered a key opportunity to spot prey lurking in recently harvested fields, according to the Farmer’s Almanac. A supermoon occurs when the full moon is at its closest possible point to Earth, which causes it to appear 14% larger and 30% brighter than the faintest moon of the year, according to NASA. Advertisement“That’s actually a really good reason for everybody to keep watching the moon every month: so you’ll see every single full moon and observe how they change,” she said. Alarcon recommends people try watching it around sunset on Friday, when it will rise from the Eastern horizon and appear especially supersized.

Hunter Biden has revived a lawsuit that accuses Fox News of illegally publishing explicit images of him as part of a streaming series. The president’s son first sued Fox in New York in July over images used in the Fox Nation series “The Trial of Hunter Biden,” a “mock trial” of Hunter Biden on charges he has not faced. He dropped the suit without explanation three weeks later, the same day President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race. On Tuesday, Hunter Biden filed a largely identical suit in state court in Manhattan, again arguing that the dissemination of intimate images without his consent violates New York’s so-called revenge porn law. The six-part Fox Nation series depicted a dramatized court proceeding on different, fictional charges.

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has shattered records, claiming the title of the fastest car ever built by a US automaker. During a high-speed run at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany, the mid-engined beast hit a staggering 233 mph, with GM President Mark Reuss at the helm. This speed record was set by a ZR1 coupe equipped with a standard chassis, aero package, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The Corvette’s Top Speed Mode adjusted its systems to push the limits, reaching 233 mph in 6th gear with an engineer riding shotgun. Powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the ZR1 generates 1064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Corvette yet.

The New York Times has demanded that AI search engine startup Perplexity stop using content from its site in a cease and desist letter sent to the company, reports The Wall Street Journal. The Times, which is currently suing OpenAI and Microsoft over allegedly illegally training models on its content, says the startup has been using its content without permission, a claim made earlier this year by Forbes and Condé Nast. The New York Times prohibits using its content for AI model training. It disallows several AI crawlers, including Perplexity’s, in its robots.txt file that tells search engine crawlers which URLs they can index. Here’s more of Perplexity’s statement:We believe in transparency and have a public page on our website that clarifies our content policies and how we use web content.

By Amanda Lee and Fabiana Negrin OchoaThailand's central bank has joined the ranks of monetary authorities who are easing monetary policy, surprising markets with its first rate cut in over four years to help boost the economy. The Bank of Thailand said Wednesday that its policy committee voted five to two to reduce the policy interest rate to 2.25% from 2.50%. Most of the Bank of Thailand's monetary policy committee members voted to lower the policy rate to help alleviate the debt-servicing burden for borrowers, it said Wednesday. The Philippines central bank also delivered a rate cut on Wednesday, its second of the year, while Indonesia opted to hold rates steady but started its easing cycle in September. "There is a very strong case for the central bank to cut further over the coming months," said Gareth Leather, senior Asia economist at Capital Economics.

CNN recently visited Nahunta, a city just southwest of Savannah in Brantley County, a Georgia county known for its strong Republican support. The county is considered the most "red" in the state, with over 90% of voters supporting former president Donald Trump in the 2020 election. During CNN's visit to the county, they struggled to find a single Democrat. "It’s the most pro-Trump county in the six battleground states that could decide the presidency this year," CNN wrote on Instagram. Watch a clip from the CNN interviews in Nahunta, GeorgiaRonald Ham, Brantley County GOP Chair, told CNN that many of the residents live "paycheck-to-paycheck" and that is why people there vote for Trump.

Mark Robinson sued CNN and a former clerk at a porn store in Greensboro on Tuesday, alleging that they defamed the Republican candidate for governor in news reports about him. A CNN investigation published last month found that an account tied to Robinson had made a series of explicit racist and sexist comments on a pornography website. His local band also produced a music video about Robinson allegedly owing him money from that time. The suit comes weeks after Robinson first hired a lawyer and pledged to investigate the origin of the CNN report. The suit against CNN does not outline explicit evidence refuting that Robinson was responsible for the posts.
