The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also encourages aurora viewers to watch from a vantage point such as a hill. “Geomagnetic storms can impact infrastructure in near-Earth orbit and on Earth’s surface,” according to the Space Weather Prediction Center. Increased solar activity causes auroras that dance around Earth’s poles, known as the northern lights, or aurora borealis, and southern lights, or aurora australis. But if the storm escalates to a G5, auroras could be visible across southern states and elsewhere around the world. Before then, the last G5 storm to hit Earth was in 2003, resulting in power outages in Sweden and damaging power transformers in South Africa. The solar storm in May was the most successfully mitigated space weather storm in history, Dahl said.

Travel Bookings Dip Amid Middle East Turmoil Intrepid Travel sees significant declines as geopolitical tensions affect demand for trips to Egypt and JordanIntrepid Travel is grappling with declining bookings to key destinations like Egypt and Jordan, largely due to the rising geopolitical tensions across the Middle East. Brian Young, their managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, indicated operations would continue as scheduled, reflecting cautious optimism within the industry. Consumer sentiment appears mixed when it concerns the Middle East. Red Sea Holidays noted minimal direct impact on their Egypt bookings, as many clients seem to understand regional realities and proceed with their travel plans. Increasingly, inquiries about flight operations over the Middle East are being received by companies as travelers ask about safety and risks.

The near future for the New York Knicks is extremely bright. However, an already solid team improved on paper over the offseason after a slew of moves. However, information from StubHub says that not only are the Knicks the site's most in-demand team, but season sales are up 48% from last year. New York is also playing in six of StubHub's 10 best-selling games of the season, including each of the top four. Ironically, that is who their first home game is against, and it is StubHub's second-highest selling game, only behind the Knicks' visit to the reigning NBA champion Celtics three days prior.

I realized this morning that I’m not nearly as excited for CBJ this year as I usually am. I thought I’d be more excited by now but I’m just not. And it seems to be just a CBJ thing, because I watched some highlights of other games and was so happy hockey is back. Obviously Johnny is the reason why, but already losing Jenner and Vronk for apparently over half the season just makes everything feel extra hopeless. I’m hoping the young guys grow, and the team looks better under Evason, and that can make me feel differently over the course of the season.

WASHINGTON — CNN anchor Anderson Cooper got hit in the face with what appeared to be storm debris while reporting about Hurricane Milton. Cooper was live on CNN Wednesday night in Bradenton, Florida, showing viewers what the storm surge looked like when an object came flying into the frame and smacked him. CNN shared a video Thursday morning that showed some of their coverage throughout the night, including the moment Cooper got hit.
