Interesting information from the new Mountain West agreement posted by The Athletic earlier today. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5831275/2024/10/09/mountain-west-memo-realignment-unlv/The new agreement states no exit fees if a school gets invited to a P4 conference, explicitly the ACC, Big 12, B1G, or SEC. Of the initial $61 milllion in exit fees UNLV and Air Force get 24.5% each for the payout while the other full members receive 11.5% each. Hawaii gets 5%. The next $21 million goes to the conference members in the same split and then legal fees are paid.

Attorneys for Sean “Diddy” Combs filed a motion late Wednesday accusing the government of leaking a video of the hip-hop mogul beating his former girlfriend and other evidence to the media, asking a judge to potentially bar the footage from a trial. The motion filed by Combs’ attorneys also alleges that authorities alerted the media about the searches in March of his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. His attorneys claim the alleged leaks make it hard for Combs to get a fair trial. Spokespersons for HSI New York and the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York declined to comment. Following the release of the video, Combs apologized.

Former President Donald Trump appeared to turn down participating in another presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris as two major television networks, Fox News and CNN, vie to host another matchup. Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday, less than 30 minutes before he campaigned in Reading, Pennsylvania. "BESIDES, KAMALA STATED CLEARLY, YESTERDAY, THAT SHE WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT THAN JOE BIDEN, SO THERE IS NOTHING TO DEBATE." Featured Local SavingsHarris and Trump faced off during an ABC News debate held last month in Philadelphia while President Joe Biden and Trump debated on June 27 in Atlanta, which Trump pointed to as a reason for turning down any more debates. Honda Recalls 1.7 Million Vehicles Over Steering Risks Nearly 1.7 million Honda and Acura vehicles affected by potential steering gearbox defect and difficulty steering may increase crash risksHonda is hitting the brakes on nearly 1.7 million vehicles due to potential steering problems, which could increase the risk of crashes. The recall, announced recently, affects some of the automaker’s most popular models, including the 2022 to 2025 Honda Civic and 2023 to 2025 Honda CR-V. This manufacturing flaw stems from the steering gearbox assembly, possibly causing the steering wheel to become unusually difficult to turn. Before this recall, Honda had acknowledged complaints over persisting steering problems dating back to September 2021, when they began to receive reports from drivers. According to Honda’s statements, the manufacturing issue causes the gearbox's worm wheel to swell when exposed to heat and moisture.

Global energy companies are currently pushing to build at least four major biomass pellet plants along the West Coast: two in Washington and two in California. Many spoke about negative impacts of the forest biomass industry in their countries. Climate, forest and environmental justice groups are already rallying their supporters to engage in this permitting process. Today, opponents of forest biomass are building similarly diverse coalitions. Biomass companies like Drax and GSNR don’t qualify for major subsidies under U.S. federal law — at least not yet.
