The spandex-clad teacher pulled me aside, out of earshot from the other parents at the gymnastics class. We sensed this was coming — our daughter was bored, protesting beforehand that she didn’t want to go. For another, every time we’ve enrolled our daughter in extracurriculars after school, it’s been the same old fight. Ask any gymnastics parent what they’ve invested in the sport, and they’ll shake their head or stutter through an answer. People should be able to look up to the president and think that “they have solid morals that they follow. The trickle-down effect of Trump’s behavior allows people to get away with bad behavior, just as he does. AdvertisementNot only does Trump model bad behavior for his supporters, but the fact that he gets away with name-calling and mocking shows that these kinds of actions can exist with zero consequences, Escuriex added. Typically, school districts pay for school lunches and then are reimbursed by the government. But without a funding agreement, the government isn’t able to spend money on many programs it normally funds, like school lunches. In its shutdown contingency plan, USDA says funds for school lunches are available through October. Earlier this year, the Trump administration cut $500 million in USDA grants that typically went to support food banks. But there’s no sign that USDA and its food programs fall under that umbrella.
