On Oct 10, the CMP had imposed a one-month restriction on gatherings near the port. The ban covers key points around the port, including Barik Building Intersection, Nimtala Intersection, Third Jetty Gate, Customs Intersection, and Saltgola Crossing. The statement said Chattogram Port is the heart of Bangladesh’s economy and a top-level KPI (strategically important facility).

Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain has rejected reports by Indian media that Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based international terrorist group, is planning attacks on India using Bangladeshi territory. He added that “no sensible person” would accept the report, describing it as an attempt to shift blame onto Bangladesh. The Times of India report, based on so-called intelligence sources, claimed that Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed was preparing Bangladesh as a new launchpad for attacks on India. According to the report, Saifullah claimed that LeT operatives were active in Bangladesh and ready to act against India in retaliation for “Operation Sindoor”. The government has formalised the positions of 22 High Court judges, who were appointed as additional judges after the July Uprising, by making them permanent. At the same time, another judge appointed alongside them, Debasish Roy Chowdhury, son of BNP leader Nitai Roy Chowdhury, was excluded from the list. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification under the president’s order confirming the appointments. According to the notification, the president gave the order in accordance with Article 95 of the Constitution and in consultation with the chief justice. Under Section 6(2)(a) of the Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025, candidates for the High Court Division must be at least 45 years old.

In a letter sent to every airport on Tuesday, the regulator instructed authorities to deploy the maximum number of security personnel, conduct thorough security checks for everyone, and emphasise fire safety preparedness. Bangladesh has three international airports -- Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet -- and five domestic airports in Cox’s Bazar, Rajshahi, Jashore, Barishal, and Syedpur, all managed and controlled by CAAB. A Malancha Transport bus parked in front of the Sutrapur Fire Station in Dhaka has been set on fire. The incident occurred around 6pm on Tuesday, Fire Service duty officer Rafi Al Faruk said. The incident comes amid heightened political tension, as the International Crimes Tribunal is set to deliver its verdict in the July Uprising crimes against humanity case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina. On Monday, crude bomb blasts were reported at seven locations, while three vehicles were set on fire. Between late Monday night and early Tuesday, Fire Services reported fires on three buses in Rayerbagh, Jatrabari, and Uttara.

The Supreme Court’s Appellate Division – Bangladesh’s highest court – will announce its decision on the matter on Nov 20, reports bdnews24.com. Now, the Supreme Court's verdict on the 13th Amendment case will clarify whether the caretaker government system will return, and if so, when and how it will be implemented. Otherwise, it will give rise to differing interpretations of the court’s verdict. When the Awami League returned to power, the Appellate Division began hearing the 13th Amendment case on Mar 1, 2010. Following the political changeover, multiple review petitions were filed against the ruling that nullified the 13th Amendment.

Two crude bombs have exploded outside the abandoned office of the district Awami League in the City Hat area of Rajshahi city. Panic spread across the area following the explosions, prompting police to rush to the scene. “The assailants detonated two crude bombs in quick succession on the road in front of the abandoned Awami League office before fleeing,” officer Masuma said. According to the officer, police launched a drive in and around the area soon after arriving and recovered evidence of the explosions. She noted that BNP leaders in the area visited the site following the incident and intend to file a case soon.

The Anti-Corruption Commission is going to take legal steps against five people from four recruiting agencies over allegations of embezzlement and money laundering through syndication while sending workers to Malaysia. On Tuesday, ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain said the cases will bring charges involving embezzlement and laundering of Tk 3.1 billion against the agencies. On Sept 14, another case was filed against the top officials of 13 recruiting agencies for allegedly embezzling Tk 11.5 billion. Only 10 recruiting agencies used to send workers to Malaysia until 2016 under an agreement signed between Bangladesh and Malaysia. But syndication persisted, with a maximum of 25 recruiting agencies controlling the entire business.

EC invites 12 political parties on first day of dialogue ahead of general electionThe Election Commission has invited 12 political parties to join discussions on the first day of its planned dialogue series beginning Thursday, ahead of the February elections. On Tuesday, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the discussions will continue throughout the month in several phases. After receiving approval from the commission, letters were sent to the chiefs of the invited parties on Tuesday evening through special couriers. Officials from the EC Secretariat have also been contacting party representatives directly. According to Md Asadul Haque, public relations assistant director of the EC Secretariat, the dialogues have been scheduled in two sessions.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka has written to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner requesting him to ensure security in and around the court premises following a broad daylight murder near the court area. He was shot near the gate of Dhaka National Medical College, adjacent to the court area. “He appeared before a court and was killed beside the court premises while returning home. The incident shows the security situation in the court area is deplorable,” said the letter sent by the CMM court. The letter also noted that 37 magistrate courts operate daily in the Dhaka court complex, handling cases from 50 police stations across the city.
