The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast "heavy to very heavy" rainfall across all eight divisions of the country as the southwest monsoon intensifies. As per BMD classifications, rainfall exceeding 88 mm in 24 hours is considered very heavy, while 44–88 mm is heavy, 23–43 mm moderately heavy, 11–22 mm moderate, and 1–10 mm light. A persistent low-pressure system has been driving the recent spell of heavy rainfall across the country. In Chattogram Division, river levels are expected to start falling from Sunday,” said Sardar Uday Raihan, executive engineer at the FFWC, speaking to bdnews24.com. The body of a missing Rohingya woman has been recovered a day after a trawler capsized in the Meghna River near Hatia, an island Upazila in Noakhali. The woman’s body was found floating in the Meghna River near Bibir Hat in Lakshmipur's Ramgati on Sunday, according to Kutub Uddin, chief of Bhasan Char Police Station. She was on the trawler with her husband, Md Tarek, and their 4-year-old son Md Tamim when disaster struck. Shafiqul Islam, chief of the Borokheri River Police Outpost in Ramgati, said locals spotted the woman’s body floating near Bibir Hat and alerted police. The trawler had tipped over on Saturday afternoon amid rough weather and strong waves on the Meghna River near Hatia.

Five charges of crimes against humanity have been filed against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina at the International Crimes Tribunal over attempts to suppress the 2024 July Uprising. The prosecution submitted the formal charges and all documents to the office of the tribunal's registrar on Sunday afternoon. If the court accepts the formal charges, it will officially kick off the trial against ousted Awami League chief Hasina at the same court her government set up to try the war criminals of 1971. After conducting an investigation, a report on the case was submitted on May 12, bringing five charges of crimes against humanity against the accused. Several parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party, have been demanding that the trial of Hasina and the Awami League be completed before the elections.

At least seven people were killed and 69 injured when a highway bridge collapsed onto railway tracks, derailing an approaching train in Russia's Bryansk region that borders Ukraine, Russian authorities said early on Sunday. A man died, and eight others are still remain missing after a passenger trawler carrying 39 people capsized in the Meghna River near Dubarchar area, adjacent to Karim Bazar in Hatiya, on Saturday afternoon, due to strong winds and waves. "As of 9 pm, eight people, including Saiful Islam (28), a district council member working at Bhasanchar police station, are still missing," he added. Earlier, the trawler left Bhasanchar Ghat around 2pm for Alibazar Ghat in Hatiya with 39 passengers on board. “After covering nearly eight kilometres, the trawler sank in a short time amid rough weather and strong waves near Dubarchar in the Meghna River,” said Bhasanchar Police Station OC Md Kutub Uddin. When the vessel began to sink, passengers jumped into the river in a last ditch attempt to survive.

Bangladesh and China have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to form a joint working group for expanding free trade and to enhance cooperation in the field of e-commerce. The agreements were signed in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon by Commerce Advisor Sheikh Bashir Uddin and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao during a bilateral meeting at a city hotel. The signing was confirmed in a media statement from Bangladesh’s commerce ministry. Wang noted the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and China has passed, with China having implemented several projects that have improved socio-economic development and people’s living standards in Bangladesh.
