After a meeting of the core committee on law and order at the Secretariat on Sunday, Jahangir was asked whether law and order would remain stable if half of the Army were withdrawn. “For now, the Army will remain as it was before,” he replied. On Nov 5, following a previous core committee meeting, the advisor had said 50 percent of the Army would be returning. When questioned about the Nov 13 Dhaka lockdown programme announced by the Awami League, whose activities were banned, Jahangir dismissed any concerns, saying: “There is no cause for concern.”

The High Court has granted bail to former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy in five cases, including the murder case of a garment worker during the July Uprising protests. Lawyer Sara Hossain represented Ivy at the hearing of the bail petition. Ruby told bdnews24.com, "Five cases have come to our court. She could not say whether there are any other cases against Ivy. On Sept 23 of that year, Minarul's brother Nazmul Haque filed a murder case with Siddhirganj Police, naming 132 people including Sheikh Hasina and 300 unidentified people as suspects.

Dhaka University provost accused of ordering six students to clear hall room for VP, GSA controversy has erupted at Dhaka University’s Sir AF Rahman Hall after six resident students alleged that the hall provost asked them to vacate their room to accommodate the newly elected vice-president and general secretary of the hall union. According to the students, Prof Quazi Mahfujul Hoque Supon, the provost, summoned all six residents of Room 318 around 12:30pm on Sunday and instructed them to clear the room for the two leaders. The room, divided into two sections housing three students each, is officially listed under their names. “We only requested a room swap as our current space is overcrowded. Senior alumni told us past VPs and GSs stayed there, so we mentioned it to the provost, but not at anyone’s expense.”

Students of Dhaka College and Ideal College have verbally agreed to a “peace pact”, pledging to put an end to years of campus clashes that often spilled onto city streets. Dhaka College, Ideal College and City College—three of the capital’s most prominent educational institutions—have long been known for their rivalries. Officer Mahfuzul said, “We organised a peace pact event for the students of Dhaka College, City College and Ideal College. However, the City College students didn’t show up. Court bars former MP Kazi Nabil from leaving Bangladesh, orders seizure of assetsA Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Jashore-3 MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed in a corruption case, ordering the confiscation of assets worth around Tk 320 million. According to the court directive, the seized properties include:A six-storey building on 0.04 hectares of land in Dhanmondi valued at Tk 22.9 million. A flat worth Tk 44.6 million at Charuta Homes Ltd in Gulshan. Additionally, the court froze Tk 6.1 million from 45 bank accounts and Tk 222.7 million belonging to 62 companies linked to him. Earlier, on Nov 6, the court also barred Nabil’s brother, Kazi Anis Ahmed, CEO of Gemcon Group, from leaving the country.

According to Food Advisor Ali Imam Majumder, the government will procure paddy rice from the Aman season from Nov 19 to Feb 28. This time, the government has decided to procure 600,000 tonnes of parboiled rice, 50,000 tonnes of Atap rice and 50,000 tonnes of rice paddy. Parboiled rice will be procured at Tk 50 per kg, Atap at Tk 49 per kg and paddy at Tk 34 per kg. In the last Aman season, paddy was procured at Tk 33, parboiled rice at Tk 47 and Atap rice at Tk 46. However, the cost of production has come down slightly in the Aman season compared to the Boro season.”

A fire has broken out late in the night in a vehicle garage along the embankment in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, destroying several cars. Locals reported seeing multiple vehicles ablaze around 12:45am on Sunday, shortly after hearing a series of loud explosions near the ULAB University area adjacent to the embankment. Rubel, who lives near the garage, said the explosions were audible from a considerable distance, and immediately afterwards, flames engulfed several vehicles. Mohammadpur Police chief Kazi Rafique said, “I heard the fire started when a microbus gas cylinder exploded, and the flames spread to nearby vehicles.”The Fire Service dispatched two units from Mohammadpur to control the blaze. Officer on duty Md Shahjahan told bdnews24.com that it was too early to determine whether the fire was accidental or deliberate.

Assistant teachers from government primary schools have gathered at Central Shaheed Minar, holding a candlelight vigil to protest a police attack on demonstrators campaigning for 10th-grade pay. Muhammad Shamshuddin Mashud, convenor of the Primary Teachers’ Demand Implementation Council, told bdnews24.com that over 150 teachers were wounded during the police crackdown and are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College and PG Hospital.
