Singh was arrested four and a half months after Hardeep Singh Nijjar — a prominent Sikh-Canadian activist, president of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, B.C. He spent six months in pre-trial detention before he was hit with an additional first-degree murder charge in the Nijjar case. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is a dual Canadian-American citizen who has been organizing non-binding referendums for Sikhs to vote for the creation of an independent homeland named Khalistan. Hardeep Singh Nijjar stands outside of the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, B.C. We have to postpone that because all the Sikh referendum volunteers, all the guys, organizers, everybody was coming to the wedding.
