Boeing ousts 737 executive Ed Clark weeks after panel blowout
The head of Boeing’s 737 jetliner program is out of a job after 18 years with the company, weeks after the Federal Aviation Administration questioned the division’s commitment to safety. Stepping in immediately to replace Ed Clark as vice president and general manager of the 737 program will be Katie Ringgold, the corporation announced Wednesday, while Elizabeth Lund will fill the newly created role of senior vice president for Boeing Commercial Airplanes Quality. “Our customers demand, and deserve, nothing less.”The changes come in the wake of several incidents, most recently in early January when a safety panel blew off an Alaska Airlines plane midflight. Hundreds of flights were canceled across several airlines as the FAA grounded 171 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft. Earlier this month, a National Transportation Safety Board report revealed the blown-out panel had been missing all four bolts meant to secure it.

ATM 2024 to focus on India’s outbound tourism potential
Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME, Arabian Travel Market, said: “The boom in outbound travel from India is being driven primarily by the growing middle class. According to a survey by Acko Insurance, the majority of Indian travellers who responded were willing to spend up to $7,000 on international trips. “And with over 8.5 million Indian expatriates currently working in the GCC, business travel and bleisure, will undoubtedly underpin this growth,” added Curtis. ATM 2024 is expecting a record number of travel professionals representing outbound as well as inbound travel to India. Last year’s ATM hosted several high-profile exhibitors from India, including Air India, who exhibited for the first time, the Goa Department of Tourism, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Uttar Pradesh Tourism, Karnataka Department of Tourism, Odisha Tourism and Puducherry Tourism.

Turkey to defend Somalia waters and reap fishing revenues
